• Clean the surface thoroughly to make it smooth and free of any foreign material. • Apply a coat of ShaliTex Primer @ 0.3 L per sqm and allow it to dry. In areas of high humidity,

the prime surface should be left over-night. • On the primed surface, start laying of membrane at lowest point of the slope roof and

progress to the higher point. Unroll the membrane half-way, align the side laps and fix SuperThermoLay membranes by using a LPG torch and applying uniform pressure with a roller/wet cloth to ensure to remove entrapped air, if any. Instead of propane torch, you may apply ShaliPrime APP, if so desired and wherever torching is not permitted or not advisable. If ShaliPrime APP is applied, ShaliTex Primer need not be applied.

• Flame should be moved in shape of “L” applying about 75 percent of the heat to the roll and 25 percent to the substrate including the lap area of previously installed membrane. The flame should be moved across the width and upto the lap edge while membrane is slowly unrolled and adhered to the under lying surface.

• Heat both layers of membrane at the overlap and use round tipped hot trowel to seal overlap. Excess compound should be smoothened and pressed into seam using hot trowel. Overlap joint shall be provided of 75 mm in longitudinal direction and 100 mm in transverse direction

• For UV protection on non-trafficable roof, SuperThermoLay waterproofing membrane shall be finally coated with Super Silver Shield.

• For trafficable roof SuperThermoLay Waterproofing system shall be protected with PCC dosed with ShaliPlast LW of 50mm thick / tiles loosely laid or fixed, over a separation layer of spot bonded ShaliGeoText 120 / 150 gsm

ShaliPrime Zn R P / R Two Component Anti Corrosive Zinc Rich Primer Description

ShaliPrime Zn R P / R is a two component, cold cure, epoxy resin blend with zinc powder. Unlike regular paints / epoxies, which resists corrosion by forming and impermeable barrier between the metal and atmospheric moisture, ShaliPrime Zn R P / R provides corrosion protection through tiny electrical cathodic cells formed by interaction of zinc with steel surface. Of course, ShaliPrime Zn R P / R provides some impermeable barrier as well. ShaliPrime Zn R P / R is superior to paints / epoxies in providing corrosion protection. Whereas, ShaliPrime Zn R P has zinc component of 92 %, ShaliPrime Zn R R has zinc component of 65%

Characteristics Pot Life, hrs 3 – 6 Specific Gravity 1.50 + 0.02 Dry Time, hrs 1.50 Theoretical Coverage, m2/L 5 – 6 Dry Film Thickness 35 microns Minimum Application Temperature > 10 OC < 50 OC

Application

• Anti-corrosive primer for steel surfaces. • Anti-corrosive primer for reinforcement steels.

Advantages

• Excellent long term protection of steel. • Easy to use and apply at the job site. • Paint / epoxy / urethane may be used as topcoats. • Long pot life for optimum working time.

Application Methodology

• Remove dust, flakes, or other foreign particles by jet or dry air and clean the surface mechanically or by grinding to make it smooth before application.

• In case of new steel structure, blast clean to a minimum surface profile not exceeding 65 microns In case of old steel structure, where blasting is not practical, use mechanical tools along with manual chipping and wire brushing to remove loose rust.

• Avoid excessive burnishing of steel. • Thoroughly dust down the surfaces. • Apply ShaliPrime Zn R P / R on an even, firm and bone dry surface. • Stir component A and B separately with a hand drill type spiral stirrer. This is to ensure

homogeneous dispersal of all fillers, which might have settled in the can. If settling is observed in the Comp A, loosen the settled material with the help of hand stirrer followed by power driven stirrer for quick homogenous mixing.

• Gradually add the entire contents of thoroughly stirred Comp B e.g. hardener to Comp A and mix thoroughly for 3 minutes using a slow speed drill ( 400 - 500 rpm) fitted with a suitable mixing paddle until homogeneous mix is achieved. Carry out mixing in a specially designed drum mixer or in a bucket using drill mixer fitted with paddle.

• Appply the homogenous two component thoroughly stirred mixture to the cleaned, evened and bone dry surface @ 5 -6 m2/L. Lay the mix on bone dry surface at temperatures ranging between 10 OC to 50 OC. using a brush or roller.

• Install ShaliPrime Zn R P / R by spreading evenly over the recommended area. • Avoid excess application and mixing. Do not apply ShaliPrime Zn R P / R in more than 50

microns DFT in a single coat. • Apply second coat of ShaliPrime Zn R P / R on bone dry first coat.

Page No : 31

Page 40: Architects · 2016-11-22 · • For all flat roofs, conduct pond testing as per ASTM D5957-98 standard after 7 days of curing of second coat of TarFelt LM. • For trafficable area,

• ShaliPrime Zn R P / R may be over coated with conventional paints or two-pack epoxy paints/Polyurethane paints. Over-coating can be done after 6 – 8 hrs; however, it is recommended to coat after 12 - 24 hrs of application of primer to obtain superior performance

Page 42: Architects · 2016-11-22 · • For all flat roofs, conduct pond testing as per ASTM D5957-98 standard after 7 days of curing of second coat of TarFelt LM. • For trafficable area,

Advantages

• Flexible anti-corrosive / preventive coating for structures – MS or concrete – even where the structure is in continuous contact with water.

• Provides excellent resistance to impact, thermal shock and abrasion.. • Cures to a hard, smooth and flexible surface with excellent resistance to sea / salt water, oil,

acids, alkalis, crude oil and minerals. Application Methodology

• Prepare the surface by mechanical grinding or other suitable method. • Remove dust, flakes, oil, grease or other loose foreign particles by sand blasting, iron brush or

compressed air. • In case of new concrete, ensure the concrete is at least 28 days old. • Ensure the ambient temperature is not less than 10 OC and not more than 50 OC at the time of

coating. • Prime surface with ShaliPrime CT. • Stir drums of each component thoroughly for uniformity. Then mix component A and

component B in the ratio of 4 : 1 by volume and stir for homogeneousness. For best result, use a variable speed drill mixer with a spiral type blade at the bottom of stirrer rod. The speed may be 400-600 rpm.

• Place the spiral blade at the bottom of the container before starting the mixer. This will help avoiding inducting air into the mass. Slowly move the stirrer head up to the surface while stirring. Do not remove the blade while still it is spinning. This procedure is continued for 5 minutes up and down to have a homogeneous mixing. Allow the combined mix to sit for an induction time of 20 minutes. Stir again gently with a hand stirrer to ensure uniformity before application.

• For best results, apply two coats of ShaliPoxy CTE® by brush, roller or spray. First coat should be allowed to dry tack free before application of second coat. The second coat should be applied as per technical data. Wipe first coat with MIBK and wipe dry with cloth before second coat or it may also be applied directly. For airless spray, use standard equipment having tip size of 0.48 - 0.88 mm and tip pressure 110 – 160 kg / cm2.

• Clean equipments with STPThinner. Health & Safety

• Use mask and hand gloves during application. • Clean hands with soap water after application. • Avoid contact with skin / eyes. In case of unlikely contact with eyes, rinse immediately

with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and lukewarm water and seek medical advice. Do not use solvent to clean the contacted area.

• Prevent swallowing. In case of unlikely swallowing, seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting.

Shalimar Dam-it Non-Shrink Fast Setting Hydraulic Cementitious Product Description

Shalimar Dam-it is fast setting, hydraulic cement product formulated to stop leaks in concrete and masonry surfaces. It is particularly effective for stopping the flow of running water. Shalimar Dam-it is ready to use and requires only the addition of water before plugging and sealing cracks.

Characteristics

Physical Appearance Cementitious grey powder

Compressive strength, Kg / Cm2 • 1 day • 7 day • 28 day

170 280 320

Mixing ratio of water 0.18 Application

• Basement repairs • Manhole repairs • Concrete pipe and bell repairs • Anchoring bolts and hand rail setting

Advantages

• Plugs wet cracks in concrete and masonry surfaces to seal out water. • Stops water seepage at floor and wall junctions. • Stops running water, reducing damage. • Expands as it sets for a water tight repair.

Application Methodology

• Ensure that the concrete is clean and rough. Remove all oil, dirt, debris, paint and unsound concrete.

• Prepare surface mechanically by using a scabbler or wire brush. • Use vacuum cleaner or pressure washing to ensure thorough cleaning and removal of all

residue. • Shalimar Dam-it does not requires any special bonding procedures. • Ensure the temperature ranges between 16 OC – 32 OC. • Add Shalimar Dam-it in appropriate amount of water for the batch size • Mix with a drill and “jiffy” mixer for about a minute. • Place the mix immediately on the leaking concrete / masonry surface. • In case of cracks, widen out and clean cracks to at least 15 mm x 15 mm deep, apply

Shalimar Dam-it to plug the prepared crack with a pointing trowel and slick off the surface. Prepare a cove at the junction. If more time is desired when preparing the cove, mix the Shalimar Dam-it with ice water.

• In case of running water, Dam up running water. Prepare all cracks properly and, if possible, relieve excess hydrostatic pressure by drilling a relief hole or by chiseling out the crack at its very lowest point. Mix an adequate quantity of Shalimar Dam-it. After mixing, immediately place the plug of Shalimar Dam-it in your hand and hold it until it suddenly begins to get warm. This will take 2 –3 minutes from the start of mixing. At this point, speed in working is essential. Force the Shalimar Dam-It plug into the hole or crack which is to be sealed off. Start filling cracks or holes at the top. To close the final opening and seal off a stream of water, make sure the Shalimar Dam-it plug is starting to warm up. At that moment force into the hole and exert pressure either with your hand or trowel for a full 5

minutes or longer to assure setting of the plug. In some cases where thewater is extremely cool, it mat be necessary to hold the plug in place for a little longer.

• In case of Bolt and Hand Rail Anchoring, use a star drill to make a hole approximately 1 – ½”(38 mm) larger than the anchor. Mix enough Shalimar Dam-it to fill the area and pour and tamp it into place around the anchor.

• Finish Shalimar Dam-it to the desired texture to match the surrounding concrete. Do not • add additional water to the surface during the finishing operation. Use ShaliCem AWP as

final waterproofing coating for additional protection against water seepage and to improve the appearance and uniformity of the repair area.

• Shalimar Dam-it requires no special curing procedures. Cleaning & Maintenance
