FAITH FORMATION Vacation Bible School at CTK! Mark Your Calendars! After collecting your responses from our VBS Survey, we will officially be hosting Vacation Bible School this summer the week of June 25-29th, from 9am-12pm. Registration can be found on the CTK Website under the “Faith Formation” tab and then clicking on “Summer” This camp will not be possible without volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering for VBS, please contact Kelley at [email protected] or 612-920-5030 x22. Help Wanted! Looking for Bakers and Ra6e Items-
On April 21/21 after both Masses, we will be having a fundraising event to help reduce the costs of summer and future programming for the youth of CTK. We are hoping to put on a bake sale, along with having some larger items to raffle off- but we need your help to make it happen! If you would be willing to bake some treats for this event, or have/would be willing to purchase items that would be good for a raffle, please contact Kelley at [email protected] or 612-920-5030 x22. We are so excited to be expanding our programming for our youth, and hope that you will join us in being a part of this mission!

Last week was Holy Week, the holiest and busiest time of year in the Church. Last Sunday we celebrated Easter, the greatest feast of the whole year. Though I think that many Christians, especially in our country, think that Christmas is more important…or, at least, a lot more fun! But Easter in Minnesota comes at a time when we are hoping that spring is finally here. The flowers are peeking through the snow or brown grass from last year and there might even be young buds on the trees. If not, there are always lots of lilies and other flowers in church. There might have been Easter brunch out with the family or a big ham dinner around the dining room table with relatives. And then there was the Easter egg hunt. Maybe yours wasn’t as spectacular as the one at the White House, but was lots of fun. I always liked to dye Easter eggs, but then you had to eat them. I much preferred the choco-late eggs and bunnies that came in my Easter basket. Yet, soon other celebrations come quickly. First Communion, Mother’s Day, graduations and weddings keep us busy. It’s easy to forget the challenge of Lent and the message of Easter.
Lent is a time to do some self-correcting in following Jesus. So we need
to slow down, work on our patience, smile more at those who look sad or have that blank look on their face, and see where we can help those who seem to be getting tired of their daily routine. To be a bit of hope in what seems to be an otherwise chaotic world around us. As I watched the March “Save our Lives” last Saturday in Washington, DC., I had a mixed reaction. First, I was saddened to see such young students having to bear such tragedy in their young lives. To hear of them telling us that a friend they had known since childhood was now gone forever. We all know that we will bury family and friends in our lifetime but at such an early age. Still so many were strong and articulate as they spoke of change and tomorrow. How we still have work to do to make our world, our nation and our churches places of hope and life, of healing and understanding. They are bringing their God-given gifts, tal-ents and energy to make all of us a better people, better followers of Jesus Christ.
It was a reminder to me that you can never have Easter without Good Friday. And that together with God’s grace and Spirit we will continue to make the Message of Easter the final word for our tired and battered world, which still reflects the good-ness and beauty of a loving God.

TODAY! SUNDAY APRIL 8 AFTER 9:30 MASS IN THE AUDITORIUM - Reminder to attend this ECTT (Easy Chairs Tough Topics) panel discussion on the important timely topic of gun violence prevention. Students have called on all of us to act to prevent gun violence in our country. Hear from students who coordinated the Minnesota March for Our Lives and from a speaker with Moms Demand Action. Students, parents, grandparents, gun owners, and all concerned parishioners and friends are encouraged to attend this respectful and bipartisan discussion and learn what you can do!
Beacon's Mpls/St Paul Legislative Action for housing funding Sun. April 15 3-4pm- It's not too late to join other CTK'ers, along with many from Minneapolis & St. Paul congregations in a show of support to invited legislators to vote yes on $140 million for housing in the bonding bill. Location is handy at First Universalist Church, 34th & Dupont Ave. S. in Minneapolis. You can register at the door, but pre registration is preferable, at the Gathering Space table with the Beacon peti-tion on this issue (still accepting signatures). MINISTRY IN ACTION.
Call Me! Hospitals no longer contact us when parishioners are hospitalized. Please call the parish office to let us know if you or a loved one are hospitalized. Letting us know which hospital is involved is most helpful. Sock collection on Holy Thursday Thank you for the bountiful donations of new socks which will be given to individuals who are homeless. It is never too late to donate socks. Just bring them to church and place them in the clean plastic bin which is marked “socks.”
