Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back. This is a short half term, but a busy one! I’m delighted to inform you that we have been approached by the Department of Education to share our teacher recruitment process and how it resulted in our fantastic Ofsted report and achieving above national standards. This is all the more commendable at a time when there is a national crisis in teacher recruitment and retention. As you will know, we do have an amazing teaching team who are supported by a very skilled leadership team. As a school we do attract high calibre graduates who are dedicated and committed to enriching the lives of your children. While the team from the department is with us they will be doing an in depth analysis for government ministers. They will want to know about the diverse community we serve. They will evaluate the quality of teaching and talk to children, teachers and the leadership team. This is clearly a very exciting time for Grange Primary. It’s great that we can now showcase the things we do so well. It’s wonderful to think that Grange Primary is now influencing Government thinking. End of year assessments Staff in all year groups are working incredibly hard to ensure that all children meet their end of year expectations. The new curriculum is so much more demanding for everyone. The higher up the school we go the more our teachers have to plug the academic gaps that were not part of the previous curriculum. We are very grateful that you as parents are supporting us through additional Home Learning. This clearly does make a difference as we recently April 2016 Newsletter - Summer Term Monday 11th April – Wednesday 20th July VALUE OF THE MONTH ‘FORGIVENESS“The weak can never forgive. They have advised that a number of measures should be put in place to ensure that your children and our staff are secure at Grange. They have identified that having two routes into the school makes us vulnerable. There should only be one entrance for the school. As a result, Governors have made the recommendation that at the beginning and end of the school day Welbeck Road will be closed and we only use the Furness Road entrance. After half term, from Monday 6 th June, parents will only be able to drop their children off at the Furness Road entrance – Welbeck Road gates will not be open to parents between 8.30am and 8.45am. Please only use the Furness Road entrance. The soft start will remain for parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, who are very welcome to settle their children in class as normal. Parents of children in Years 3 to 6 are asked not to enter the school but to speak to staff at the end of the day. We will review these procedures after a few weeks to see how effective they have been.
