Student Services - Course Selection Tips● Choose your classes with care. ● Colleges will expect you to maintain rigor.● Balance your course load carefully. ● Know the minimum admission requirements for colleges and universities.● Check prerequisites for courses● Listen to recommendations● Do your research

Alternate Courses• Students will be required to select 8 primary courses and 4 alternate courses.

• Alternates must be different from your primary courses

• You will not be allowed to finalize course selections without 4 alternates

• Students must be willing to take the alternate courses that they choose

Application Courses• If a course requires an application, you must turn it in to Student

Services by March 9th.• Teachers will review applications and notify students if they were

accepted into the class.• If you are not accepted, an alternate will be chosen in its place.• Applications are available on the student services website under

Registration.

Recommendations● Teachers provide recommendations to help you make the best decisions.● Recommendations are based on test scores, motivation, and homework completion.● If you choose to go against recommendations, and the course is too hard, you may

end up failing the course!● Level changes are often not possible once schedules are released, so do not expect

to be able to make a level change!● No waivers are necessary to complete registration.

Early Release / Late Arrival• Available to seniors that will meet graduation requirements

• You must have at least 2 classes each semester

• You must have a reason for Late Arrival or Early Release, such as a job or a CCP course

• Must return Late Arrival/Early Release form with supporting documentation

• You will still register for 8 primary and 4 alternates

• Late Arrival/Early Release form is due by May 1st in order for us to schedule around requested periods off

• Some colleges/universities frown upon reduced schedules

Mid-year Graduation

• Seniors that need 4 or less credits to graduate can apply to graduate Mid-year.

• Mid-year graduation forms due by May 1st.

Timeline• 2/26 - 3/1 - AOE students will register during the school day

• 3/2 - Registration materials distributed in Homeroom

• 3/2 - 3/9 - All other students will register on their own

• 3/9 - Applications due to Student Services

• 4/18 - Verification Forms sent to students

• 4/25 - Verification Forms returned if changes need to be made

• Students can make any changes they wish to their registration until May 1st by emailing their counselor.

• No changes after May 1st!

• Submitting your registration early does not give you first priority on getting the classes you want.

• There is no advantage to submitting registration early!
