We believe living simply is a worthy lifestyle choice.

We believe it can look many diff erent ways—there is no one right way to do it.

We believe there is a marriage between art and science in pursuing a simpler life.

We believe living simply is a journey, not a destination—or, better put, it’s a lifestyle, not a goal.

We believe quality is more important than quantity in almost every facet of life, including tangible possessions, relationships, and aesthetics.

Seven years ago, Tsh Oxenreider and her family sold everything and moved 6,000 miles away to Izmir, Turkey. It quickly became apparent that they’d have to relearn how to do everything—and they found themselves questioning the status quo. Why do we complicate our lives by doing what the culture dictates as normal?

The following year, Tsh Oxenreider started Simple Mom on a whim, where she wrote about everything she was learning about living simpler. It took off like wildfi re. Today, it’s known as The Art of Simple.

Today, Tsh and her husband Kyle own Simple Living Media, home to AoS and several other websites such as Simple Bites, Simple Kids, and Simple Homeschool.

She’s the author of the books Organized Simplicity and One Bite at a Time: 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler. Her third book, Notes from a Blue Bike, will hit bookstores February 2014.

Tsh and her family currently live in Bend, Oregon.
