My dear friends, Christ is Risen! Alleluia, Alleluia!!
On this Second Sunday of Easter I would like to say THANK YOU,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! For all your support, spiritual and financial. Yes we
are living in an odd time. I, like you, never thought we were going to be in a time
like this. I don’t want to downplay the anxiety and stress that this is causing or will
cause to all of us. Yes we worry because we are not in control, the uncertainty of
what is going to happen and how we are going to manage it all. All I can say is we
need keep our focus in the One who is in charge. All of us, in one way or another,
will be touched by this world situation, and we will succeed if we put our trust in
Him who is in our midst.
On a small scale we, as a parish community, lived it last year with the
collapse of the parish social hall. We can look back at our own story and can see
how God provided for us from day one. How, despite its being a Sunday nobody
got hurt; that in the midst of all the uncertainties, such as finding a place to worship
as a family; a place for R.E.; a place for our social events; how the other Christians
denominations offered us their help; and so forth. And when we finished our
reconstruction we owed only the insurance deductible.
This year, we have our building back, but we are in the midst of this
pandemic. I am very grateful for technology, that we (Swede, Sr. Lucy, Dennis,
Devan, Anthony and myself) can continue working remotely from our homes and
attending to your needs. I am very pleased that I has been able to continue
worshiping with you daily by live streaming the Masses. I feel your presence! Thank
you for being there at the time of Mass. And thank you for those who cannot be
watch live and are watching it later during the day. I am very pleased for those who
are helping to have the weekend Masses in church with live music and in our own
building. This is very rewarding for me as a pastor to be able to provide for you in
this time that spiritual support that all of us need. Again, we are together on this.
This week, Monday through Friday, I won’t be livestreaming the daily Masses. I will
be in my house, I’m taking some time to relax at home.
You won’t see or hear me talking about money. My belief is that we all
know our responsibilities toward our own families and toward God, that’s called
stewardship. I just want to express from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU to
all of you who continue contributing to our parish, may the Lord continue blessing
your generosity. And for those who have not being able to contribute, I don’t want
you to feel bad, we know your unconditional support for us. May the Lord continue
blessing you as well. Know we are here to help you all. Please, please if you are or
know someone who is in need, we don’t have a lot of money because our Social
Concerns Account gets a percentage of our collections, but we can share some with
our parishioners who are in need.
The first reading from Acts of the Apostles reminds us we are together in
this boat but we can only see the Lord working if we focus on the teachings of our
Lord and Savior, “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to
the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers… All who
believed were together and had all things in common.” We will miss the
opportunity to see the wonders and awesomeness of Him if we try to live our faith
apart from God, apart from the Church as we see in the Gospel when Thomas was
not with the Apostles when he appeared to them. He was able to touch and feel the
Risen Lord when he came back to the group. Then he was able to recognize Him,
“My Lord and my God.” And Jesus’ response was, “Blessed are those who have
not seen and have believed!” WE ARE BLESSED, my friends! We believe!!
Christ is risen!! Alleluia, Alleluia!!
¡Mis queridos amigos, Cristo ha resucitado! Aleluya, Aleluya!!
nuestras responsabilidades hacia nuestra familia y hacia Dios.
¡SOMOS
BIENAVENTURADOS, mis amigos! ¡Creemos!
Cristo ha resucitado!! Aleluya, Aleluya!!

St. Vincent de Paul Society
In the Gospel today, Jesus stands in the
midst of us and says: “Peace be with
you!” During Mass we turn to each
other and say “Peace be with
you!” As you give a gift to St.
Vincent de Paul you say “Peace be
with you!” to those who are poor
and hungry.
