Advanced Gasification Technology – Key Points

Standard gasification is a high heat partial burn process which breaks down feedstock into it’s basic gaseous elements

Advanced Gasification is a pryolysis process without oxygen or burning which:

offers up to 35% greater efficiency over stoker technology

Produces a reduced emission of 98% below conventional fossil fuel plants & 40% below conventional biomass plants.

Can accommodate a variety of organic feedstock of varying moisture content without impacting Btu content.

Gasification to advanced gasification improvements have been provided by world renowned programs such as: Battelle Labs, NREL, U.S. Department of Energy

At completion, the biomass material is reduced to a minimal inert ash residue with multiple commercial use. (road bed material, landfill fillers, fertilizer extenders, etc)

Process Flow• Organic feedstock at 3”-

is fed thru a hopper and through an air lock

• In the air lock nitrogen purges out the oxygen

• Blended with steam the feedstock is mixed with 18000f heat

• As the heat mixes an instantaneous reaction “gasifies” the feedstock breaking it down into it’s basic elemental gases

• Cyclones separate the Syngas and any Char

• Gas & char is burned in the combustor generating heat sent to the gasifier

Forsyth Power Project – Technology Emission Driven

BG&E selected technology is an EPI starved air fluid bed gasifier coupled with an InDeck recovery boiler.

Back-end emissions controls include a hot ESP followed by a CO2 catalyst and SCR to manage NOx

540 DTPD produces 268 MMBTU/Hr of steam at 9500 F and 1215 psi which directly feeds a 32 MW STG

Project Construction time is 15 to 18 months from ground breaking thru commissioning
