2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
The IQAC plays an active role in developing a culture of quality within the institution. This culture is
maintained and sustained by several initiatives taken by the Cell throughout the year. During the
academic year Orientation sessions were conducted for the students and periodical meetings/ discussions
with department faculty / stakeholders/ representatives were conducted to collate the data pertaining to
various activities of the departments.

MOU with Tata Institute Of Social Sciences (TISS, Bombay) for running Skill Development
Program For Students (NUSSD )
Regular meeting with the Principal and staff and members of IQAC regarding various
suggestions and implementation for improvement of quality education.
Conducted Internal Quality Audit for the Teaching Departments
Spoken tutorial classes for C++
and JAVA, in collaboration with IIT Bombay started for computer
Science students.
National Level Youth Entrepreneurship Development Program for students was conducted by
ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu.
One International and Three National Seminar and Workshop organized in this session.
Extension activities by KALPTARU Social Unit of teachers (donation of competitive exams
books, clothes to needy, and food donation in old - age homes) and NSS unit of college
(Cleanliness drive, plantation drive, blood donation camp, free dental check up).
Developed and designed matrix to analyze yearly performance of individual teachers. The
process was implemented for the first time and Yearly Performance Index was computed for each
teaching faculty.

2.12 How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate the Teaching & Learning processes:
The IQAC tries to enhance teacher effectiveness through professional skill development training
programmes. The College encourages research, publications, paper presentations and participation in
international/national/regional workshops, conferences and symposia. Senior faculty and administrative
heads discuss future plans of the institution for quality assurance and enhancement. Feedback from
students is considered for reforms in teaching, learning and evaluation.
IQAC contributed in teaching learning process in 2015-16 in following ways
Academic calendar was prepared at the starting of the session to provide a guideline for programs
to be conducted throughout the session.
Orientation programme was conducted for first year students coming from different backgrounds
to make them aware of various possibilities and avenues in career so that they may develop
vision.
Personality development classes of 3 months span was conducted in which mentors from
different fields were invited to take classes and help in grooming of students.
NUSSD programme of TISS, Bombay was started for enhancing employability skills of students.
28 students got enrolled for first batch.
Guest lectures/ quiz/model and poster competition were organized by departments and
associations for updating knowledge of students and increasing their involvement.

A spoken Tutorial class in C++ and JAVA for computer science students was started in this
session in collaboration with IIT, Bombay.

3. Research, Consultancy and Extension
3.1 Initiatives of the IQAC in Sensitizing/Promoting Research Climate in the institution:
IQAC regularly organize workshop/seminar for teachers and research scholars with a
view to make them abreast with the recent advances.
IQAC motivates faculty members to publish their research findings in peer reviewed
journals with good impact factor.

4.2 Computerization of administration and library
Administration:
Pay and Accounts Office
Annual accounts, financial statements, salaries, Provident fund have been computerized through
administration office.
Library has been automated using the INFLIBNET (information library network). It organizes and
manages the information of Books, Articles, Journals and Circulation in most economical and effective
manner.
The library subscribes to electronic databases N-List which can be accessed throughout the college
campus through intranet.
The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) can be accessed from all the library computer systems which
can also be used for browsing and surfing the internet to supplement the Library sources.
The Library has been provided with E-mail facility which serves as a means of communication between
the library and its users. A photocopier is used in the library for the benefit of students to avail
photocopies of reference books.

Criterion – V
5. Student Support and Progression
5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services
IQAC plays important role in enhancing the progress and personality of students. IQAC prepare
academic calendar for the college in consultation with different department to organize various academic
and extension activities throughout the session. It encourages the faculties for conducting literary
activities like essay, debate, quiz, poster/model completion etc. for the intellectual development of
students. IQAC constitutes Student wing for suggesting necessary action to be taken for overall quality
enhancements.
Students are encouraged for participating in sports, play/drama, cultural and social activities for fostering
experiential learning. Students secured 1st position in One-act play during youth festival organized by
University. Kaushalya (B.Ca. – Ist Year) secured 2nd
position in district level slogan competition
organised by collectorate under Sweep program. Due to support and positive stimulation by IQAC and
college our student secured good positions in various district/inter college/ inter university essay, debate,
drama, slogan, entrepreneur, ad making , quiz , dance, competitions. Orientation program and
personality development classes are conducted for first year students coming from different back ground.
Our student brought accolade to college by good ranking and participation in state and national level

College makes various efforts for student progression in academic as well as extracurricular activities.
IQAC monitors overall development of students through student wing , student mentor cell, and PTA
meetings. Self assessment test are conducted to evaluate student performance and model examination are
conducted before final exam to help the students for their final preparation. After the completion of
syllabus remedial and doubt classes are conducted for weaker students. In-house project and class room
seminar are practised as a part of curriculum. Regular feedback helps in tracking progression and

6. Governance, Leadership and Management
6.1 State the Vision and Mission of the institution
VISION- To become successful in life, we must have an aim and to achieve this aim we should work
hard.
MISSION- We have miles to go through rain and sunshine but our mission is centred to relate the
education with social development.
6.2 Does the Institution has a management Information System
The College ensures a system of participative management whereby information flow and decision
making processes are systematised and channelled through all key constituents of the College. The
suggestions given by the Governing Body, the Management Committee are implemented by various
administrative offices, under the leadership and guidance of the Principal. The Heads of departments
ensure the smooth functioning of the activities of the department in collaboration with other members of
the department.
Regular meetings of IQAC members and Staff Council are held to discuss and decide on matters
relating to academics and administration. For the smooth and effective functioning of the College,
interactions with stakeholders comprising of faculty, parents, alumnae and the students, are regularly
organised.
Feedback received from faculty, students, alumnae and other stake-holders are considered for continuous
review and revision which are relevant to the changing needs of higher education.
6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:
6.3.1 Curriculum Development.
As the College follows the Syllabus of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur there is little scope of
internal curricular designing. However every department has its own academic calendar/module to run
and complete the syllabus. The college runs Personality Development Classes , computer awareness
programme , and skill development courses for knowledge up gradation of students.
6.3.2 Teaching and Learning
Apart from classroom interaction the following methods are used.
The college adheres to pre-published academic calendar. Emphasis is given to student centric
learning.

All departments are provided with Internet connectivity LAN and Wi-Fi facility for the
promotion of ICT based teaching-learning methods.
Most of the teachers adopt power point presentation and online resources while teaching.
Subject specific seminars, poster presentations have been internalized as the regular components
of the curriculum.
Symposia/Conferences/Workshops are regularly organized with student participation to ensure
exposure to new knowledge and also interactions with the peers.
Industrial visit and educational tour are also very encouraging learning approach for the students.
6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation
1. The college conducts semester and yearly exam as per university norms.
2. The college conducts model exams in similar pattern as final exams to aid and assess their
preparation.
3. Performance of the students is monitored by making an analysis after every internal and external
examination.
4. The answer scripts of such tests are shown to the students and within one month results are
declared. If reports are not satisfactory the college calls their guardians and discusses their
shortcomings.
6.3.4 Research and Development
Research is a significant activity of the college. The college has established Research Promotion
Cell.
The college organizes national, international, state level symposium/ seminars/ workshops,
conferences regularly to keep research scholars and teachers abreast with the latest development
in their subject/field of research. During this academic year one international and three national
levels seminar and workshops were organized related to different fields. The papers presented in
seminar were released in the form of proceedings.
One of the faculties has been awarded PhD this year and two faculties are registered guides in
university.
One minor project is ongoing and one has been submitted to CGCOST.
15 international and 64 national research papers have been presented and published by the
faculties in this session.
4 faculties have participated in orientation programme and refresher courses.
The college motivates the faculty for research linkages at state and national level to carry out
collaborative research.
Teachers are kept updated about available scopes for applying for research grants. Space and
necessary infrastructural support is provided for research work. .

Fully computerised central library with sufficient number of foreign and Indian author books of all
stream.
Fully air conditioned computer lab with Wi-Fi connectivity, CCTV surveillance services.
6.3.6 Human Resource Management
Governing Body manages and develops the total human resource of the college.
For the management of college affairs different committees have been constituted like anti
ragging cell, women cell, equal opportunity cell etc.
The college has a Students Union whose elections are held annually as per University Statutes.
Teachers remain available even outside the Class either in the Library or in the Teachers Room
or in the Computer Room for the Student counselling.
The college takes special efforts to encourage teaching and non-teaching staff for pursuing higher
education.
In order to enhance capacities of staff need-based training/workshops are organised for faculty,
administrative, and supportive staff.
Recreation programmes are also organised for teaching, non-teaching and supportive staff.
6.3.7 Faculty and Staff recruitment
At the end of each academic year the Management Committee reviews the existing positions and
identifies personnel for various teaching and non-teaching positions. The management makes
appointments as per university norms.
Teachers have been appointed on adhoc basis for the current session against the vacant posts.

Industry experts are invited to take lectures and field visits are scheduled for students.
An MOU has been signed with TATA institute of social science, Bombay for running skill development
programme for students. NUSSD aims to increase employability skills of students and our college is the
first institute for this collaboration from Chhattisgarh region.

Parent teacher meeting is conducted in last week of every month. Suggestions to improve the
academic climate of the college are collected through PTA meetings.
Parents association appreciates college management for maintaining discipline among their
wards and efforts of college for overall development of students and transparency of system.
The parents actively participate in the feedback system of the college.
In this session a get- together for parents has been organised.
6.13 Development programmes for support staff
Non teaching staff is promoted for enhancing their academic qualification. Satish Deshlehra and Amit
Kumar persuing B.A., Ms. Padma and Tulya Shankar are enrolled for B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses.
The Computer Science Department of the College organizes Computer Awareness and Computer
Literacy Programme for non-teaching employees.
6.14 Initiatives taken by the institution to make the campus eco-friendly:
The College, on a regular basis, makes a thorough environmental assessment of the campus and
implements healthy ecological practices in water and energy conservation and waste management.
Some of the initiatives are as follows:
Energy efficient lighting LED lights which consume less power are used in the College.
The existing RO plants supply potable water for the entire college.
Some of the other eco initiatives are Herbal garden, Grey water recycling, Segregation of
waste, and Safe disposal of laboratory wastes.
College Campus has been declared as no smoking zone.
Campus declared plastic free zone. Use of polythene is prohibited in college.
Regular testing of drinking water and quality of canteen food was done by the College
Authority.
Plantation day was observed by NSS to promote environmental awareness in students.

7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year which have created a positive impact on the
Functioning of the institution. Give details.
College has adopted Gyanodaya Vidyalaya, Ruabandha, Bhilai and organizes regular academic,
cultural and sports activities for the students overall development. The institution has also
donated various competitive exam books for the benefit of students.
College has started a skill development course in collaboration with Tata institute of social
sciences (TISS), Bombay. 28 students are currently enrolled for first batch.
College organized 5 day entrepreneur development program to increase and enhance
entrepreneurial ability among students.
Free coaching classes for CSIR- NET in Lifesciences have been started from this session in
which students from other colleges can also come.
For awareness of students about important issues various day celebrations were done by college
like World AIDS Day, Human Rights Day, World Environment Day, National Science Day etc.
Slogan competition was organized for voting awareness and students took oath for propagating
Clean India and save girl child campaign.

College received Permanent affiliation for BBA, BCA, and BSc. – Biotechnology courses from affiliated

1. Adoption of School- College adopted Gyanodaya Primary School Ruabandha , Bhilai through
Teachers social unit Kalptaru . The school is located in Primarily backward area and students studying
their are from weaker section of society . College conduct various programmes highlighting the
importance of Yoga, cultural and sports for students and tries to provide basic facilities in school
campus.
The college has donated books to Camp area School Bhilai worth Rs. 15,000 for engineering and
medical entrance exam through Kalptaru and the library is open for all students from nearby area.
2. Skill Development Course – From this session Skill Development Course was started in collaboration
with Tata Institute of social sciences, Bombay for graduate students. 28 students enrolled for first batch.
