Report from Synod and CAECG„the purpose of the Council shall be to assist its members in the performance of their missionary

task in co-operation with the other churches in Germany, proclaiming the Word of God, administering the Sacraments, pastoral work, religious education, charitable activity and participation in ecumenical endeavours, according to the principles of the Anglican Church.”

Mission statement of CAECG.The meeting in Hamburg was well attended, all but one church were represented. Ken Dimmick,

the Archdeacon Peter Potter, Bishop Pierre Whalon (Episcopal Church) and our Bishop Robert Innes were among those present.Adrian Mumford (Secretary of the Diocese) gave us a report about the safeguarding policy of the diocese, the Common Fund and Bishop Robert talked about new strategies of the Diocese. There is a new officer for Safeguarding: Leslie Weaver. He will make an Online training for people who care for children and vulnerable adults available. There are more than 40 vacancies in the Diocese at the moment. A new Archdeacon for Germany and Northern Europe will be appointed in September.Representatives of the Old-Catholic Church

were present as well and we had very good conversations.Saturday morning after Morning Prayer Rev Steven Smith (Munich) hold a very good and

informative lecture about “Mission and Charity”.The meeting ended with a Eucharist (celebrated by Bishop Pierre who held an inspiring sermon). I had two opportunities to talk for a

longer time to our Bishop. One was with other clergy present when we discussed questions concerning the Church Representation Rules, and topics like “should a priest at Eucharist serve himself before he distributes Communion or afterwards”.

The second meeting was a private one when we discussed our appointment and the problems we have. He was very caring, concerned and open. “You want Archangel Gabriel” he said, “but you can only afford an angel. Be realistic with your expectations and make every effort to improve your financial situation.” He is keen to help us with prayers, talking to people and to support us.

As usual it was a very busy time with a full schedule. I did not have time to see much of Hamburg. But meeting all the people and the warm Christian atmosphere, the friendliness of strangers, the respectful way to have communion which each other, the loving care were worth the long travel.

A Brief Explanation of AC RulesAs we are a church with members of a great variety of cultural and denominational backgrounds

it is sometimes difficult and confusing to understand the rules and regulations of the Anglican Church to which we re bound. I thought it might help if I explain from time to time some terms and some rules in the newsletter.

Part 1 General:ACF belongs to the Diocese in Europe and is part of the Church of England. Therefore we have

to stick to the rules of the CofE. They are laid down in the Constitution of the Diocese , the Handbook of the Diocese and the Church Representation Rules of the CofE. All are available in the internet.

Part 2:ServicesA normal service (Eucharist) can only be celebrated by a priest who has a permission by the

Bishop to officiate or a priest ordained in a church which is in full communion with CofE.A service of the word (i.e. Morning Worship etc.) can be led by :A priestA licensed Lay readerA congregational worship leader. These have to be nominated by the local priest, instructed by

him and be approved by the Bishop. They have no permission to preach. In our church these Congregational Worship Leaders are: Will Teale, Christin Ghinn, Judith

Moratscheck and Almut Schulz.

Letter from Emmanuel!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ at ACF,

We are very happy to let you know that our journey back to our country Tanzania was very safe. We thank God and you for your prayers.

We are now starting to familiarize again with the home environment.

We would also like to thank you all for the farewell party at the church.

We wish you a blessed Easter!

 Kind regards,

Fayleen, Faith, Agnes and Emmanuel

Kauen Mit GodActs 2 vs 46 “Everyday they continued to meet together in the Temple Courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,,praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”

Our “Shared Lunch Table” has now met twice, in February and in March, and that is how we want to meet in the future. We, that is the basic group of six Mitessern: Bev, Margaret, Rotimi, Michael, Christopher, and of course Marita and myself.

It is probably still a bit early to report our experiences. Time will tell was in uns steckt. One thing we can say however is we are alive and we enjoy our meals. Of course it does not only evolve around food. That is the bridge we use to move into conversation. We want to know how those around the table move with God; we want to exchange thoughts on how we feel in our community, what problems we might have and how we can support others. We do not want to remain only as the basic group; an eighth chair is always available for one more guest who the host/hostess invites. If one of us cannot come for whatever reason another guest could be invited. The limit of eight was set as most of our tables do not accommodate more, and more might make it more difficult to start talking and listening to each other. We meet once a month, the third Sunday. As all do not have enough space one can also use the table of a fellow mitesser (basically we meet in a different home every month). Und wer sich für diese Idee begeistert ,möge sich melden.

Lets Look and See/Listen

Josef and Marita

About Me

My family have been living in Freiburg for three years. I had been studying Environmental Science in Newcastle University but after a time of personal difficulty moved to join my family in March 2014. I was raised a Christian but wandered away at school. Since leaving University I have experienced God’s grace and guidance which has helped me through this difficult time. I am now looking to God to discern His will for my life; this has led me to YWAM.

Alastair’s adventure with ‘Youth With A

Mission’ (YWAM) in

Orlando FL. and South Africa

About YWAM

YWAM (Youth With A Mission) is a global organization, founded in the 1960’s, now with 1100 locations in 180 countries. It’s purpose is to ‘know God and make Him known’. YWAM offers a course known as a ‘Discipleship Training School’ (DTS), which consists of a 12 week lecture phase, which covers topics such as ‘Hearing God’s voice’, and ‘the Father-heart of God’; and an 8 week mission trip, which focuses on applying what has been learnt in the classroom, through overseas ministry. A DTS seeks to ‘bring one into a more intimate relationship with God’. http://www.ywam.org/about-us/ http://www.ywam.org/dts/

Further Questions If you are interested, I would love to talk to you either in person or by email. I will be in Freiburg until the 24th of March. My email address is as follows [email protected] If you would like to give, my bank details can be found below. Thank you so much! Account Holder’s Name: Alastair Cuthbertson Account No: 13201937 BLZ: 680 501 01 IBAN: DE54 6805 0101 0013 2019 37 SWIFT-BIC: FRSPDE66XXX

Further DTS Information:

My application to embark upon a DTS beginning on the 1st of April 2015 has been accepted. I will travel to Florida with my dad on the 24th of March. The course will take place at the YWAM campus in Orlando, Florida. The mission trip for this course will be a 2 month stay in South Africa, after which we will return to Orlando Fl for a one week ‘de-brief’ and a graduation ceremony.

During my time with YWAM, I am hoping to come to know God in new ways, to become more grounded in Scripture, and also to discern His will for my life; I am hoping to grow in my new identity in Christ.

Would you like to be part of it? I am looking to find a team of people who want to be part of this adventure with me, through prayer and giving. There is great power in prayer. If you would like to pray I would greatly appreciate it. I will be sending regular emails with updates about the course and my time in both Orlando and South Africa. If you are interested in receiving these please let me know. If you would like to be part of this adventure through giving, the cost of a DTS can be broken down into 2 amounts: 1 for the ‘lecture phase’ and 1 for the ‘outreach phase’. The 12 week lecture phase cost is 3445 USD, this includes accommodation, food, and indeed everything during the time I will spend with YWAM in Orlando; I have saved money from working last summer and can pay this myself. The cost of the ‘outreach phase’ is a set amount of 1900 USD, this however does not include flights to the outreach location (South Africa), which I also have to fund. YWAM book the flights and I therefore do not know the exact cost, but YWAM estimates that airfares will be between 1000-2000 USD. I am looking to find people who would give towards these costs of the Outreach phase, which total 2900-3900 USD (depending on the costs of flights). My parents are very generously paying for my flights to Orlando and my return flights to Germany in August, after the graduation ceremony in Orlando.
