It was an absolute success! There was a huge variety of cakes, slices, toffees, cupcakes and biscuits to name a few. The cake stall raised over $880, which will go towards the food, the drinks, the two jumping castles and the items used for face- painting and hair-spraying at Welcome Evening. We would like to thank all the Kindergarten parents who brought in cakes to school to help fundraise, and especially those wonderful mums and dads who helped set up and sell the cakes on the day. Term 1 Week 6 4th March 2014

Last week Year 5 and Year 6 students attended a Graffiti Awareness Education program in our school hall. The program is sponsored by Blacktown City Council and is designed to teach children about peer pressure, the choices people make and the consequences of those choices. The presenter, Nathan Diaz, entertained the students with humour and drama while teaching them about the differences between vandalism and community funded Street Art. On behalf of all Stage 3 students we would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Diaz and Blacktown City Council. The students of 6G

Last week, Kindergarten held a cake stall to raise money for Welcome Evening, a special event Rooty Hill Public School holds for all the new families to our school. It was an absolute success! There was a huge variety of cakes, slices, toffees, cupcakes and biscuits to name a few. The cake stall raised over $880, which will go towards the food, the drinks, the two jumping castles and the items used for face-

painting and hair-spraying at Welcome Evening. We would like to thank all the Kindergarten parents who brought in cakes to school to help fundraise, and especially those wonderful mums and dads who helped set up and sell the cakes on the day. Also, a very big thank you to all the children who purchased cakes on the day – there were a lot of happy ‘frosting’ smiles around school. The Kindergarten Teachers.

This is one of the many leadership roles at our school available to Year 5 and 6 students. Peer Mediators have a very important job and are responsible for assisting students in the playground by helping them to resolve their disagreements. Our Peer Mediators participated in a training day on Tuesday 25th February, where they participated in a range of leadership activities and learnt how to be effective Peer Mediators. Congratulations to each one of you for your hard work and enthusiasm on Training Day! I am looking forward to working with you all as student leaders within our school. Last Monday, players from the Penrith Panthers came out to speak to Years 3-6 about Anti-Bullying strategies and tips. Students were also given opportunities to take photos with the players, ask questions and take part in challenges to win prizes. Well done to the boys and girls who took part! Luke Shaw Organiser
