Andria and Her Travels

Andria setup a business in Maui, opening a bead and souve-nir shop in 2003. Andria started making jewelry, necklaces andearrings out of semi-precious stones which were very saleable tothe tourists in Hawaii.

Andria had an opportunity to travel in England, Ireland andScotland.

This was a once in a lifetime adventure for Andria - travelthrough England, Ireland and Scotland, visiting friends and his-toric sights.

She looked up the roots of part of Marilyn’s family. Marilyn’sfather, William W. Watson was Scottish. His family had emegratedto Canada first before moving to the States and settling in Michi-gan.

Early in December, 2004, I received a call from Andria, say-ing she would be arriving from London at the Miami airport onThursday evening. It just so happened that Thurdsay was thenight of our Holiday Banquet of my Hollywood Coin Club atGeorgio’s Restaurant.

I got there early, set up the Club Banner and arranged theseating for the head table. I was able to stay only about an hour togreet the arriving members and their guests. I had to address thegroup with a welcome speech and say a quick good-by beforedriving to the Miami Airport to meet Andria.

Andria was glad to be home again. It was great to have Andriaback with us. She redecorated her bedroom, using some Japa-nese pictures and screens that she found at the SwapShop.

The following spring, she flew up to Michigan to take care ofher Aunt Marge. Andria has always been close to Aunt Marge.

Dad remembers, how Andria when she was about ten, was al-lowed to visit Aunt Marge in Michigan one Christmas. When she calledhome to us in Florida, he remembered her saying, “Gee, I ate snowthree times today!” Andria had been raised in Florida and this was thefirst time she ever saw snow.

Cadillac while she was living with Aunt Marge. There was a mallabout two miles away, where Andria got a job at a jewelry shop.As fast as she got paid, she would spend her pay check for clothes.

Some evenings, Scottie, Billie’s son, would take Andria aroundto small clubs, where they had an open mic, Andria loved to per-form before an audience.

The summer went fast with Andria having a good time withnew found friends. When the fall arived in Michigan, It turnedcold. Andria does not like the cold, so, she called her Dad whosent her a ticket to return to Florida. Andria stayed with us inHollywood all winter, helping a little around the house but mostlythis was a kind of vacation. She and Roger, Sr. would go to theSwapShop where they would meet Steve.

to the coin shows and sell a little jewelry, sometimes. She becamea regular with her Dad at the Coin Club meetings, both Hollywoodand Fort Lauderdale.

At the Gold Coast Coin Club Banquet, her Dad seated her atthe head table next to an old friend of his, a very knowledgablenumismatic friend in the coin business, Stan Klein.

They became friends, as Stan was a fine musician too.

In June 2008, Andria moved back to Hawaii, looking forwardto seeing her sons again. Andria was still in Maui, a year later.She had a job, an auto and lived in a nice condo sharing withanother lady.

The Boys are doing fine too. For the summer Andrew has ajob at the YMCA working with youths and is planning on college.Andria is writing a storybook using the computer and has aMySpace page with many many friends.
