A high-energy professional with an entrepreneurial drive and an adventuresome spirit, Andrew Karigan launched himself from the suburbs of Minneapolis to

travel the world as an international sales manager in the tech sector. His education and experience proved an ideal founda-tion upon which to establish a highly successful real estate practice, though Andrew acknowledges that transitioning into the industry came after some serious prompting by his mother. “She was a very accomplished fashion saleswoman for European high-end brands,” he says. “She saw something in me that would translate well into home sales.” Armed with an MBA and over 15 years of corporate sales and manage-ment experience, he had grown accustomed to the whirlwind pace of international business. “I was on an unpredictable schedule, and ready for a new challenge,” Andrew recalls. “Though I wasn’t sure how I’d fit into real estate, it was a great time to pursue the opportunity.”

It was, by all accounts, an immediate fit. After earning his license Andrew garnered a listing and sold the home within three days. “It clicked,” he says. “I discovered that I had the skills to handle the business end of the transaction, and understood how to fulfill my clients’ emotional needs as well.” As he continued to build his clientele, Andrew approached his work with a sense of purpose and direction. Steady growth allowed him to establish a thorough business plan, and when the market shifted, he was well-prepared for the worst.

“To be honest, I didn’t feel the adverse effects that impacted some agents,” Andrew reveals. “In fact, my busi-ness grew during the downturn. Because I was working in a high-end market, the transition simply created more oppor-tunities for well-positioned buyers.”

He has the unintentional air of someone who has expe-rienced a life with fluid borders. Andrew’s mother, a native of Athens, Greece, maintained cultural heritage by enrolling her children in Greek language classes for nearly a decade. The family traveled to Greece as well, recon-necting with their roots whenever possible. A relative of writer/actress Nia Vardalos, Andrew alludes to his second cousin’s hit “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. “That’s our real life,” he laughs.

Andrew studied Political Science with a concentration in French and International relations at UC Berkely, spending a semester abroad in France to hone his language skills. He went on to earn an MBA with an academic interest in International Marketing Management, International Political Economy and French. Study abroad included coursework at the Oxford Centre for Management Studies in England and Management Centre Europe in Belgium. Before his 25th birthday he was a seasoned international

traveler whose expanded world view afforded him limitless professional opportunities.

Fluent in Greek, Spanish and French, Andrew has become a veritable connoisseur of cultures. His skills exceed lan-guages; his experiences have allowed him to identify subtle societal nuances and adapt accordingly, facilitating suc-cessful business transactions across international lines.

In the high-end and luxury real estate marketplace, savvy consumers demand sophisticated representation. Transactions may become increasingly complex, financial implications are compounded exponentially, and nego-tiations are elevated into a veritable art form. Andrew’s ability to deftly meet the multifarious responsibilities of his position, paired with his exceptional communication skills, has made the difference. His clients appreciate the unwav-ering work ethic, professional panache and technological acumen that add value to every transaction he handles.

Andrew’s hands-on approach is facilitated by the support of his team, Karigan Residential Group, which aligned itself with Teles Properties in 2012. The group’s members work independently but cohesively, ensuring that all clients have ready access to updated information. His priority is ensuring each client’s well-being, though, and Andrew notes that he does not delegate communication to others. “My clients want to reach me,” he asserts. “When I’m contracted, I’m present and active throughout the course of the transaction and beyond.”

Teles Properties, Andrew adds, offers an ideal platform for his client-centric model. His move to the brokerage was deliberate; he explains that identifying “the right fit” was a determining factor. “Teles has an amazing marketing depart-ment and incredible resources including unique websites for each property listed, and upscale virtual tours. Because I work with a high-end, international clientele, it was impera-tive that I have the opportunity to create superior marketing and advertising campaigns that would translate well in print and online outlets.

The demands of the real estate industry are undeniable, but Andrew carries himself with an easy diplomacy that belies his love of the profession. “There is something new every day: a challenge, an issue, an opportunity,” he reflects. “There’s never a dull moment. One minute you’re basking in the success of a multi-million dollar sale, and the next minute you’re strategizing workable solutions to salvage a purchase with a buyer relocating from another country.” It’s the unpredictable nature of the business that appeals to Andrew’s creative entrepreneurialism; he thrives under pressure.

Achieving balance is critical to cultivating longevity in the field, and Andrew enjoys the opportunity to recharge through travel, fitness, family and friends. He continues to explore the world, manning a virtual practice all the while. Gym time encourages physical and mental focus, and energizes Andrew for the rigors of his work. And he counts upon the relationships he has established with clients – which often transform into solid friendships - as the thread that holds his professional fabric intact. “Personal connections are so important,” he says.

Andrew continues to refine his real estate practice, and looks forward to building luxury clientele throughout the communities of Newport Coast, Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, Laguna Beach and surrounding areas. He remains dedicated, focused and motivated to succeed, to providing his clients with impeccable representation designed to assist them in consistently achieving their objectives.
