Analysis of Beyoncé magazine advert

This advert for Beyoncé album “I Am… Sasha Fierce” it very repetitive. She has used the same image twice. This is because its the album cover and she’s trying to promote, so her fans can recognise it.- Beyonce created more than one album cover for this album, this is why we see two smaller images at the bottom of the advert. These picture are here to advertise and to promote the fact that Beyonce has made more than one album cover for the “I am.. Sasha Fierce” album and that her audience can buy either of them.

Beyoncé “I am... Sasha Fierce” album contains two disks each containing two different genre types. One disk contains song that were R&B ballads and midtempo pop while the other disk concentrated more on

Electropop songs. This suggests that Beyonce wanted to show how diverse she was as an artist and that she isn’t just a pop artist.

The two different album covers

available

Back cover

They have used the same image from the

album cover. I personally think they’ve

done this as it ‘s eye catching therefore the image is recognisable which means her fans

and target audience will remember it.

They have used Beyoncé iconic logo. The font is very basic but very effective, the blocked and filled font creates a sense of domination which could relate to Beyoncé popularity in the music industry..

The main image on the page is the original front and back cover of the album. The two pictures are in complete contrast to each other, although they are both presenting a modern representation of a woman as they both look strong and dominant, the picture on the left make Beyonce looksslightly more vulnerable. This is done through her lack of make up and clothing. This image could be reflecting

her songs in the first disk of her album as most of her songs are about heart break and relationships. The placement of the album title is very unique and interesting due to the fact that it continues onto the back page. This could suggest that when she first wrote the songs on the first disk in the album she didn't know who she was, it could be suggesting that she was lost due to past relationships and break ups. The “ Sasha Fierce” could suggest that she's recovered from the past and she’s finally found who she is, this could also suggest why her songs in the second disk as they are more upbeat and fun as she's developed as a person.

Key things I have learnt from the Beyonce advert analysis:

Beyonce has included her album cover in her advert as it shows her audience what they are looking for when they buy it.

The image on the front reflects the artist and the songs within the album.

The artists name should stand out so the audience know who you’re advertising.

Shows the date the album is released Includes at least one of the artist

singles(songs) on the front.

Analysis of Rihanna magazine advert

Album cover. The use of pop

conventions. The colour red is used throughout

the whole album. The connotations

of reds are danger, love and passion this could suggest that the albums is

about these things.

The poster/advert is following the same colour scheme as the album cover. Bright, eye catching

colours. The colour scheme is very feminine which could suggest that the target audience for this album is females.

Rihanna’s hand placement makes her look slightly vulnerable, which represents a traditional representation of a woman. This could mean that the album contains songs about love and heartbreak, especially due to the colours being presented.

Rihanna’s name is hardly visible, this could suggest that people know her

through her look and ‘image’.

Includes the date that the album is release and the name of a few of the songs included in the album.

The name of the album is big and bold.
