Headline

The headline is a pull quote and instantly draws the reader in to find out more about the the article. The quote can lead to many questions being asked so there for reader is more likely to read to find out the answers. The headline is one of the biggest features of the page and sits in the top left corner, it spreads over to the second page slightly. It used 2 colours both that are apart of the house style of the page.

Central ImageThe central image is a crucial part of the page. It instantly shows the reader who the article is about. This is important as the headline of the article does not tell the reader who it is about. The image takes up nearly all of the second page in the size. The image is a medium close up and the subject has very relaxed body language. The subject of the picture also is making direct eye contact with the reader keeping direct address as the mode of address. The clothes that the subject is wearing also links to the house style colours with the red trousers and black top.

Secondary ImageThe secondary image is much smaller than the central image, it takes up less than a tenth of the first page. It is positioned very centrally on the page in the middle of the text. This breaks up the text giving the reader a break while reading. The image is captioned giving the reader information on what the image is. The image has been edited so that the background in the top is not seen just leaving two subjects in the space. The image is another medium long shot and is very natural and not posed. The contents of the image relate to the article clearly.

By LineThe by line is directly underneath the headline but is much smaller, nearly the same point size as the rest of the article. It give very clear brief description of the article in a single summary line.

Pug

The pug shows that the article is an exclusive interview. The pug itself is not very clear as it is small and in dull colours. However this makes sure that it does not distract from the actual article. It is positioned above the headline so that it is in an easy place to spot.

Headings/Questions

Each heading is a question that starts the following paragraph. They are always clear and clearly make breaks in article to separate each paragraph. They make them clear against the rest of the article by making them a clear bright red which contrasts greatly against the plain black text. The red sticks to the house style of the double page spread.

The house style of the page is clear with the use of colour. The colours red and black are very clearly the main colours of the pages. There are 5 font types used over the 2 pages. 2 of these fonts are used very rarely (the headline and ‘dressing room demands’) font are only used in those 2 areas. The headings are sans-serif fonts whereas the content is in a serif font.

Page Numbers

The page numbers of the pages are very plain The are centered at the bottom of the pages. This is against the general conventions of them being in the corners of the pages. They are very basic as most magazines would also include the date or magazine name.
