TARGET AUDIENCE OF THIS MAGAZINEI think the target audience for NME magazine is teenagers up to about the age of 30. I believe this because they are the type of people who go to more gigs and music festivals so they want to read up on bands so they know the latest news. According to the reader profile the median age is 23 years old. 35% of the readers are students too, which follows conventions of students being interested in music.

66% are males that buy NME and 34% are females. I think more males would buy NME than females because females usually buy fashion magazines etc.

The music interest is varied but the magazine mainly features in artists or bands that are currently in the charts or have released a new single or album during the time of the edition. Bands or artists that are reuniting and coming back are also featured too.

61% of the readers are in ABC1 meaning 68% are in the higher income social groups.

The magazine costs £2.20 which is an average cost of a well-known magazine and isn’t too cheap or expensive and is affordable for the target audience, students.

The language is informal because it is aimed towards younger people who use slang etc. Big bold texts and bright colours are used to make it stand out and make younger people want to buy the magazine because it catches their attention whereas older people don’t concentrate on the layout and colours and mainly focus on the stories published on the article.

Lots of music artists are mentioned that are out during the time the magazine edition has been released so readers can see what is featured about the music they like listening to.
