Analysis of written article

The article itself is basically about Dizzee Rascals career and how he turned his life around, this article is very influential on readers and also very inspiring for the audience. The style of the article is very laid back and chatty. It is written in 4 short columns each of approx75-100 words, the columns make the article very easy to read and also appears as though there isn’t a lot of writing to read. The main heading/headline is quite dramatic and uses extremely large font in comparison to the rest of the text on the page this is to attract the audience and emphasise what a success Dizzee Rascal is.

ANALYSIS OF ARTICLES- DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD 2 NME

Long shot of the artist Florence, covering the spread the artist ‘Florence and the machine’ sitting on a box covered by what looks like the American flag, this could connote that she is very successful with her music in the USA. There are no smaller images or text on the image which shows the importance of the artist. The direct eye contact in the image makes it more personal.

“USA” is printed across the background of the page in slightly darker colour that the background this is making the reader aware that this article has relevance to America.

The masthead is written above the article and introduction, in italics and much larger bolder text than the rest of the page this it brings more attention to the page. The masthead makes the double page spread more interesting.

The title is also the name of a song by Florence which familiarises the readers with the artist and therefore the article.

The article is written in columns on the right page in black text which stands out against the light grey background, as this is the most important part of the page.

There is a small introduction with some information about the artist that links to the image and it hints to what the article will be about..

NME also uses the colours red, white and black on this double page spread, these are common colours used for NME magazine and therefore is easily recognised as part of the magazine whilst linking in with the relevance of the article

The background used quite a dull plain colour which is an effective way of not drawing to much attention to the background and highlighting important parts of the page with bolder colours.

Analysis of written article 2The article itself is basically about Dizzee Rascals career and how he came from so little to become so big. The style of the article is quite formal talking about “Florence Welch lying on her floor attacking herself”. It is written in 2 short columns each of approximately 100 words and another columns which is significantly longer. The main heading uses a line from one of the artist’s song which therefore effectively creates a sense of familiarity for the reader.
