THEME SCRIPTURE
Show respect for all people: Love the brothers and sisters of God's family, respect God, honor the king.1 Peter 2:17 (NCV)
WHAT’S ENCORE FOR?Encore is designed for students who want more. This booklet was developed to help you grow in your relationship with God and inform your parent(s)/guardian(s) of the messages covered during the services. Each weekend, we’ll cover one of the Encore lessons, and we’ve provided space for you to take notes during the services. After each message page, there’s a page that contains some suggested reading regarding The Point of the week. We encourage you to read the verses during your daily devotional time and memorize the main scripture for that week. After you memorize the verse and read each daily devotional, have your parents sign in the space provided. Then, show it to a Mix56 worker to receive 300 jewels!
SERIES DESCRIPTION[on-er] What in the world is that, you ask? Well, it’s the pronunciation of the word “honor.” But maybe this generation needs to be asked that question again.
What in the world is honor?
In this series, we’ll explore what the Bible teaches about honoring God and others. We’ll discover that our willingness to esteem or value God and other people directly influences what God is able to do in and through our lives.
THEME SCRIPTUREShow respect for all people: Love the brothers and sisters of God’s family, respect God, honor the king.1 Peter 2:17 (NCV)
WEEK 1
THE VERSEHe returned to Nazareth, his hometown. When he taught there in the synagogue, everyone was amazed and said, “Where does he get this wisdom and the power to do miracles?” Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?” And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.” And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief. Matthew 13:54–58 (NLT)
