Diversifying the Dental Profession ScholarshipThisrenewablescholarshipisawardedtoincomingdentalstudentswhowillactivelycontributetoculturaldiversitywithinoureducationandpatientenvironment.TheUMKCSchoolofDentistrybelievesaculturallydiversestudentbodyenhancestheeducationalexperienceofstudents.
Chancellor’s Minority Non-Resident AwardThisscholarshipisawardedtoacceptednon-residentstudentswhoareAfrican-American,Hispanic,orNativeAmerican.Theawardwaivesthenon-residentfeedifferentialforstudentsandisrenewableonayearlybasisbymaintaining a 3.0 grade point average.
Each year the UMKC School of Dentistry awards an estimated $750,000 in scholarships to dental and dental hygiene students. These funds come from generous support of alumni and the dental community. Admissions Prerequisites
The UMKC Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) is a clinic-based program focused on comprehensive care. The program includes rigorous academics, methodical training and a commitment to building leaders that improve lives through oral health. Our program emphasizes evidence-based dentistry as well as an immersive clinical experience. Our team-based model allows students to begin their clinical experiences in year one and also learn about the business sides of dentistry through our “Transitions” course.
RESERVED ADMISSIONS PROGRAM
TheReservedAdmissionProgramfortheDoctorofDentalSurgery(DDS)degreeattheUMKCSchoolofDentistryenableshighlymotivated,ambitious,talentedMissouriandKansasresidentstopursuetheirdreamofbecomingadentist.AcademicallyqualifiedReservedAdmissionProgramstudentswillhaveareservedseatinafutureUMKCDDSProgramclass.AsaReservedAdmissionProgramstudentyoucanapplyforadmissiondirectlytotheSchoolofDentistrywithoutgoingthroughthenationalapplicationservicerequiredoftraditionalDDScandidates.TobeeligibletoapplyforReserved Admission you must have completed a minimum of, but not more than, four semesters of college credit while beingcontinuouslyenrolledinfull-timecourseloads(aminimumof15-18credithourspersemester).Yoursciencegradepointaveragemustbeatleast3.60inadegree-seekingprogram.Onceacceptedintoourprogram,youmustmaintaina3.6scienceGPA,scorea19ontheDentalAdmissionsTest,andmeetexpectationsofthesubjectivecriteria.
