POKEMON CARDS
The children have been bringing their Pokemon cards into
school to play with at playtimes, but unfortunately we have
had a number of incidents linked to Pokemon cards and
this week there was a nasty attack on a child over
Pokemon Cards.
For this reason the children will no longer be able to bring
their Pokemon cards to school to play with at playtime.
They may still be taken to Twilight.
REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
Thank you very much to the
PLT who helped to lead the
Remembrance Service at the
Chapel-on-the Hill on Sunday.
The children planned the
service with Marie and led
many aspects of it, including
teaching the congregation
one of the songs we sing in worship. Father Kevin also
attended as it was decided this was the service where the
children could get more involved. We look forward to
continuing to work with Father Kevin and Marie for future
church services.
GOOD WORK WORSHIP
Congratulations to Year 3 who did an amazing Good Work
Worship on Wednesday. They shared with us so much
learning from Circus School, which the children had
thoroughly enjoyed, to Ancient Egypt and the gruesome
mummification process, to their new topic about the
Rainforest. All of the children spoke confidently and sang
their very amusing mummification song with enthusiasm.
Well done Year 3.
I look forward to seeing the fantastic learning that Year 2
have been doing next Wednesday at 9:05 am. Parents and
family are invited to attend.
CHILDREN IN NEED
Thank you to everyone that supported Children-in-Need
today. The children looked great in their colourful clothes
and Pudsey themed items of clothing. A big thank you to
everyone who supplied cakes and biscuits as well. We will
let you know how much we raised next week. THANK YOU!
CHRISTMAS DINNER
We are having our school Christmas Dinner on Tuesday
18th December; this is also our Christmas Jumper Day.
If you would like your child to have Christmas Dinner on this
day then it needs to be ordered using ParentPay by
Wednesday 5th December. As every school is able to
select on which day they have their Christmas Dinner it is
not possible to put the Christmas Dinner Menu on
ParentPay’ so I have attached a copy of the menu.
If your child would like the Roast Turkey select main and if
they would like the Quorn Roast select vegetarian. The
jacket potato and baguette options are not available on
this day so please don’t order these.
If you don’t have access to your ParentPay account you
will need to ask Mrs Hardes for an activation code.
Have a lovely weekend.
WORSHIP THEME - ANTI-BULLYING WEEK Choose Respect
This week in worship we have been thinking about the Anti
-Bullying Week theme of Choose Respect. The children
wore odd socks on Monday and thought about the words
of the Odd Sock song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of5CxXz662Y
We looked at all of our odd socks and how this made us all
look very different, but in fact we are all the same. The
children were encouraged to see what is the same about
us and use this to be friends and unite rather than focussing
on what is different. We thought about how you can either
focus on the fact that you support a different football team
and see that as negative or celebrate the similarity that
you both like football.
We also talked bout how we can be scared of new and
different things, like different foods, but actually sometimes
we end up really liking them if we give them a try. We
need to give new people a chance before making up our
minds we don’t like them because they look different.
On Thursday afternoon each of the classes shared some of
their work and learning from Anti-Bullying Week. Reception
made masks to turn them into Anti-Bullying super heroes
championing kindness, Y1 made a beautiful patchwork
piece of art work celebrating what was different and the
same about the children in their class. They were
encouraged to see the beauty in difference. Y2 designed
their own socks and celebrated their differences. They also
shared some books they had read about being kind. Y5
took this a step further by adding top tips to their socks on
how to deal with bullying. Y4 and Y3 shared some poems
they had created about the effects of bullying and last but
not least Y6 created some detailed PowerPoints with Anti-
Bullying quizzes.
Finally the children were reminded that choosing respect is
not just about Anti-Bullying week, but it is a life choice and
something that they need to do each and every day.
