backgroundworld refugee day is a celebration and a time to honorthe world's nearly 10 million refugees. At the Twin Cities event, you will find dancers, singers, bands, drummers, artisans, storytellers, speakers, and much more.

membership insightsthe site will not be used to gain funds, but it will beimportant to prominently recognize the organizationsfunding the event somewhere on the site. the main goal to be accomplished is in regards to increasingusability. the organization is also in dire need of acontent management system that an amatuerprogrammer can use.

communication objectivesPRIMARY: continue to communicate with the client via weekly e mailed status updates and the team developed extranet site.

SECONDARY: various phone call and e mails will be sent when immediate communication is necessary.

key differentiatorsthere aren’t any real competitors for the minnesotaworld refugee planning committee, but the site shouldcontain a few vital elements. specifically a designaethetic that will create a diverse cultural andcelebratory feel.

mandatory elementsthe site must prominently display where and when theevent will be taking place, along with a description of exactly what the event will consist of. the site must also feature a photo gallery of some sort that will beused to display all of the event photos from this year and previous years.

story: Asad Elabdi and his family came to theUnited States in 1997 as refugees from their nativeSomalia. He currently resides in the Cedar Riversideapartment complex near the west bank of the U of Mcampus. Asad enjoys learning about American culture,and has been heavily influenced by American musicand sports. Over the years Asad has worked toperfect his English and has admittedly become“more American”, but he recognizes the importanceof his past and the traditional cultural ideas that hisparents cling to.
