What will I know when I finnish this tutorial?

I will know what is in our Library.

I will understand Library Rules & Procedures.

• Let’s review our Library Guidelines.

• There are question and answer slides to practice with to make sure you know everything you need to know to be a member of the Order of the Dragon!

• Work at your own pace. Have fun!

Library Guidelines• You must have your library card to check out

books.

• You may check out two books and one magazine each time you come to the library. (If you returned your other items).

• You may not check out books if you have a long overdue item.

• Please work quietly so you don’t disturb other students.

• Always enter at Library Lab door and exit by the door nearest the Circulation Desk.

Checking out…

• Books – Circulate for two weeks.

• Reference – No checkout except to classroom.

• Magazines may be checked-out. They are on shelves next to the exit door alphabetically by the name of the magazine.

How to check out your own booksIt’s as easy as 1,2,3!

• I scan my card. (It’s only polite to say hello!)

• I scan my books. Listen for the “happy sound” (If you get the “unhappy sound” call for help!).

• I see them on the screen! I see my name and my books! That’s it, I’m out the door - as easy as 1,2,3.

How to check-in your books It’s as easy as 1,2, 3!

• When I enter the Library with my books… I stop at the

Check-in computer. I stand behind the line on the carpet. When it is my turn….

• I scan my books. Using the barcode next to the spine.

• I see my name. and I’m sure that my name is on the screen one time for every book I check in.

• I put them on the shelf. E books on the

pink shelves, F on the purple and Non Fiction (true) on the Blue.

• Please return your materials on time for others to use. There are no fines for late books.

• You can only check out books if you return your books on time.

• A one dollar ($1) replacement fee will be charged for a lost library card.

• You must also pay for any lost or damaged books.

Library Hours

• The Library is open before school from 7:50 a.m. until the end of school at 3:00 p.m.

• Fun Company sometimes uses the Library after school for those who need to work on homework.

• Open check out times are

• 7:50 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. each day

• 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day

When May I visit the library by myself? (Click on the best answer) • Anytime the Library is open from

7:50 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

• I must be with my teacher if I want to use the Library.

• During open check out times only.

Try Again

• The Library is open before school from 7:50 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

• BUT I may come alone only during• OPEN CHECK OUT times.

You rock!

• Are these questions too easy?

What must I always bring to the Library to check out a book?

• A smile, a quiet voice, and a helpful attitude!

• My Library card

• All of the above.

Try again!

• Yes, always come with a smile, a quiet voice and a helpful attitude…..but you need something more!

Try Again!

• Of course you need your library card!

• But always bring something that is in your pocket that you put across your face….and a quiet voice, and a helpful attitude!

You rock!

• Are these questions too easy?

When I check in…

• I must see my name for each item I check in!

If I return two books how many times will I see my name on the screen at check-in?

• One time – I am only one person!

• Two times – one for each book I check in!

Yes you are just one person, but..

• The computer wants you to know how many books you checked in!

• Try again!

You rock!

• Are these questions too easy?

How many books may I check out?

• 1. One

• 2. Two

• 3. Three

What? You know the answer!• One book can be anything for fun.

Ms. McIntyre won’t care if it is too hard or too easy for you!

• One book must be at your reading level to practice reading with!

• So 1 + 1= 2 RIGHT? Try again!

You rock!

• Are these questions too easy?

Overdue means…..

1. I have kept the book longer than I the two weeks I said I would keep it.

2. I have can now keep the book for the rest of the year!

3.Someone may be waiting to read the book I have kept too long!

4. Both 1. and 3. are right!

Overdue means keeping a book too long!

• Someone may be waiting for you to finnish the book!

• I have kept the book longer than the two weeks I agreed to when I checked it out!

• Try this one again!

You rock!

• Are these questions too easy?
