Design Considerations

• Full Length Module design, more detail work is needed to resolve certain design issues such as:

– Header design at the Top of the module that allows proper flow distribution.– Collector design in the Bottom with facilities for all coolant and breeder Flows

• He Inlet/Oulet for DC concept• Flibe Inlet/Outlet for DC-Be and Pb concept• Pb inlet/outlet for DC-Pb concept• FLiNaBe flow circuit for Self cooled concept

– Module structural support – Fabrication, Assembly and installation issues– Maintenance and replacement issues, accessibility and handling

• Molten Salt Design requirements for Blanket Modules and ancillary systems– Module Pre-Heating during startup, Min. Temp control during operation, Idle

conditions and shut down process.– Molten Salt Drainage from Blanket module during shut down.– Ancillary and piping system design, trace heating, heat exchangers and pre-

heating systems etc…
