1872 – Elijah McCoy invented an automatic lubricator for oiling steam engines in locomotives and ships. McCoy become one of the most accomplished African American inventors in history.

of bears. They fought in a nearly uncontrollable, trance-like fury, a characteristic that later gave rise

to the English word berserk.
