The Italian AmericanSocial Club at Palm Coast, Florida
Message from the President
Hello again members,
Can you believe that it’s October already? Where did this year go We are two months away from the holiday season. WOW!
We have some wonderful social events coming up. Our Harvest Moon Dance is October 13th and our Fashion Show is October 18th. Then our Anniversary Dance is November 17th. Let me remind you to purchase your tickets early enough to be sure you can attend. The cut off date for any dinner dance will be the Monday before the event. There will be no exceptions!!!! The food has to be ordered as well as the linens and many other things that are necessary. Please be considerate of the people that are in charge of our functions and the great work and time that is put into them.
The Fashion Show is open to the public. The fashions come up from Fort Myers Florida and are quite different from the local fare. Please invite your friends. The cost is only $15.00 And includes lunch. Please support your club functions whenever possible.
A lot of members are coming back to have dinner here once again. Chef Tony is creating some good food. Come on out and try it, Tuesdays and Fridays. As always, if you have a special request, please let us know. We are open for suggestions.
Once again I would like to remind you to “Be kind to one another”. And perform “A random act of kindness” When you can. You will feel good about helping someone else.
Your President,Lois Big Mountain

HERITAGE COMMITTEE
THE NIAF
The National Italian American Foundation was founded in 1975 as a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. It is entirely non-partisan. It faithfully represents over twenty-million Italian American citizens living in the United States. The two most important aspects of the NIAF is its preference to help continue and maintain past and present Italian traditions and culture, hoping to ensure the entire community does not forget the great contributions the Italians have brought to the history and progress of the United States. The Foundation actively collaborates with the Congress of the United States and with the Whitehouse on all major questions regarding Italian Americans.Following are some of the activities and programs promoted and offered by the NIAF: • Financing and organizing national and congressional events on the theme of the Italian culture and language; • Assigning over a million dollars in scholarships to American Students; • Monitoring of mass media in order to contrast the image, which is often negative, of Italian Americans and their traditional culture; • Join in the fight with other Italian American organizations against denigrating campaigns confronting the relationship of Italy and the United States; • Engage in the promotion and development of the economic and cultural rapport between Italy and the United States. In celebrating our great heritage and accomplishing its objectives, each year during the month of October the NIAF organizes in Washington, D.C., a gala evening to which the President of the United States is invited as well as other important representatives of world politics, cultures and of finance, illustrious Italian American and Italians. Over three thousand attend. On this occasion the Foundation confers honors and recognition to eminent Italian and Italian American personalities. Some of those that have been recognized follows: Antonin Scalia, first Italian American supreme court justice. Luciano Pavorotti, Frank Sinatra, Joe Di Maggio, Lee Iacocca, Liza Minnelli, Sofia Loren…For further information please see www.niaf.org - Laurence Amuso, Member Heritage Committee

By-Law Addendum Article 1X Nomination & Elections
If, in the event there is no quorum in June, of any year, a standing member of the board will cast one vote for the incoming new board members. NO other business may be conducted.
