DESCRIPTION

How can we imagine God, Who gets to say what God isHow can we find peace? What doctrine do we need to believe?

TRANSCRIPT

We say that the divine

creator is Holy Mystery

Then, we put labels and names on that mystery

And insist that God be boxed in

to fit our own image

The Divine is

Wholly Mystery

God is all we can

imagine, all we

could ever need and

more.

Wholeness.

Oneness.

All that is

and ever was.

But God Must be..The religious

institutions say…And then name for us what they think

God must be!

LICENSING#C10965 USED WITH PERMISSION

So we have no choice

– we must in response to the

silliness of the Church in

attempting to box in the

Wholiness of God

with equal silliness.

Here it is my

friends, the

simple M and

M

A chocolate, a candy, Melts in

your mouth not

in your hands.

Such simplicity and complexity all at the

same time. This is God too.

Simple and complex.

The M and M acknowledges the need

for variety. Milk chocolate, dark

chocolate, crisped rice, mint chocolate,

peanuts, almonds, orange chocolate,

coconut, pretzel, wild cherry, cinnamon and

peanut butter.

There is one God,

but many kinds of

God.

But like the telltale M

on the candy, We too want to put that

same kind of stamp on

God.

It is part of Human nature

to give God, a definable image and a story.

Suffice it to say; to the people often in peril God was always

the strongest, the mightiest,

the one able to move the tallest trees, the unfathomable water

and ever more –in the midst of that –

bring them peace.

Peace. The images of God are meant to bring us peace. So why

don’t they?

Well in part because we think we have exclusive rights to

God and God’s ways, and to defining God.

Exclusive rights belong to the candy and movies – not to

access to God.

We must guard against the thought that only the church can say what is right about God and the way God acts in this world.

God is wholly

mystery and we must pay

attention because

things are constantly changing.

Again, brilliantly exemplified with

M and M’s, who have

undergone many changes, including

Adding colours based on global voting to include more varities.

This is the point that we need to hear. There is not ONE name for God .

Nor ONE way of

thinking of God.

There is not and

will never be … One

doctrine that

describes God

There is only the voice of

God.

The voice that calls to us in perfect

harmony.

We experience God in three

ways: as something

beyond; something

among us; and something within us. It is that unknown

something that matters.

Call God whatever you need to. From the strictest and most orthodox of church doctrinal thought to the

silliest notion that God is like a candy.

Call God the most powerful being upon the universe,

or the most fragile of whispers heard only in

your heart.

Realize That It Is Not What

You Call God But That You

Know That God’s Voice Calls

To You And That You

Respond By Taking The

Mystery Into You, And

Letting It Become A Part Of

Who You Are.

“ The real mystery of life is not a

problem to be solved,

it is a reality to be

experienced.”

(J.J. Van der Leeuw)
