Page 1: The divine m and m

We say that the divine

creator is Holy Mystery

Page 2: The divine m and m

Then, we put labels and names on that mystery

And insist that God be boxed in

to fit our own image

Page 3: The divine m and m

The Divine is

Wholly Mystery

God is all we can

imagine, all we

could ever need and

more.

Page 4: The divine m and m

Wholeness.

Oneness.

All that is

and ever was.

Page 5: The divine m and m

But God Must be..The religious

institutions say…And then name for us what they think

God must be!

Page 6: The divine m and m

LICENSING#C10965 USED WITH PERMISSION

So we have no choice

– we must in response to the

silliness of the Church in

attempting to box in the

Wholiness of God

with equal silliness.

Page 7: The divine m and m

Here it is my

friends, the

simple M and

M

Page 8: The divine m and m

A chocolate, a candy, Melts in

your mouth not

in your hands.

Page 9: The divine m and m

Such simplicity and complexity all at the

same time. This is God too.

Simple and complex.

Page 10: The divine m and m

The M and M acknowledges the need

for variety. Milk chocolate, dark

chocolate, crisped rice, mint chocolate,

peanuts, almonds, orange chocolate,

coconut, pretzel, wild cherry, cinnamon and

peanut butter.

Page 11: The divine m and m

There is one God,

but many kinds of

God.

Page 12: The divine m and m

But like the telltale M

on the candy, We too want to put that

same kind of stamp on

God.

Page 13: The divine m and m

It is part of Human nature

to give God, a definable image and a story.

Page 14: The divine m and m

Suffice it to say; to the people often in peril God was always

the strongest, the mightiest,

the one able to move the tallest trees, the unfathomable water

and ever more –in the midst of that –

bring them peace.

Page 15: The divine m and m

Peace. The images of God are meant to bring us peace. So why

don’t they?

Page 16: The divine m and m

Well in part because we think we have exclusive rights to

God and God’s ways, and to defining God.

Exclusive rights belong to the candy and movies – not to

access to God.

Page 17: The divine m and m

We must guard against the thought that only the church can say what is right about God and the way God acts in this world.

Page 18: The divine m and m

God is wholly

mystery and we must pay

attention because

things are constantly changing.

Page 19: The divine m and m

Again, brilliantly exemplified with

M and M’s, who have

undergone many changes, including

Adding colours based on global voting to include more varities.

Page 20: The divine m and m

This is the point that we need to hear. There is not ONE name for God .

Nor ONE way of

thinking of God.

Page 21: The divine m and m

There is not and

will never be … One

doctrine that

describes God

Page 22: The divine m and m

There is only the voice of

God.

The voice that calls to us in perfect

harmony.

Page 23: The divine m and m

We experience God in three

ways: as something

beyond; something

among us; and something within us. It is that unknown

something that matters.

Page 24: The divine m and m

Call God whatever you need to. From the strictest and most orthodox of church doctrinal thought to the

silliest notion that God is like a candy.

Page 25: The divine m and m

Call God the most powerful being upon the universe,

or the most fragile of whispers heard only in

your heart.

Page 26: The divine m and m

Realize That It Is Not What

You Call God But That You

Know That God’s Voice Calls

To You And That You

Respond By Taking The

Mystery Into You, And

Letting It Become A Part Of

Who You Are.

Page 27: The divine m and m

“ The real mystery of life is not a

problem to be solved,

it is a reality to be

experienced.”

(J.J. Van der Leeuw)
