Help wanted! Greeters! To serve our parish well, we need a minimum of 32 Greet-ers to provide 4 at each week-end Mass. This would allow for just a once a month assignment. We presently have 23. YOU, men, women, couples, singles, families, teens, can serve the Lord and your faith community with a smile and a greeting. The ministry of Greeter has been active since 1980. Let's make it stronger than ever! Let the first gesture that greets parishioners and guests be one of welcoming and cordiality. For information, call Martie 432-2852

Spring Enrichment isn’t just for religion teachers
While the Diocese’s annual Spring Enrichment program started out as a training program for what we now call “catechists” and “youth ministers,” in recent years it has expanded its scope, size and numbers. The annual program now includes courses for pastoral care ministers, parish leaders, and the general public seeking to learn more about their faith as well as for catechists, youth ministers and Catholic school teachers pursuing diocesan certification. For more information about this year’s program, May 16-18 at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, check out the program’s schedule & brochure on the diocesan website (www.rcda.org/springenrichment), contact your parish’s faith formation leader or the diocesan Catholic School Office at 518-453-6602 (or by email at spring.enrichment@rcda.org).
From the Pastor’s Desk, Updates& Odds & Ends… • The carpet arrived from India for the Daily Mass Chap-
el and has been installed. • The icon of Christ being created by Marek Czarnecki of
Meriden, CT should be completed sometime in June. • The new tabernacle being created by Jim Lewis of
Springwood in Troy, NY should be completed some-time in June.
• The Scouts are working on an Eagle Project along the fence in our parish parking lot.
• Saint Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry will be offering a Master’s level course at Saint Mary’s via videoconferencing. See the course outline below. If you have any questions, please talk to Paul Cerosaletti or contact Saint Bernard’s at 518.453.6760, 40 North Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12203. The videoconfer-encing is held in the basement of the rectory on Wednesday beginning 2 May 2018. Wednesdays: 5/2 –
6/27; 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
The Church in America (Peter Avvento, S.T.D.) This course will serve as a theological probe into themystery of the Church. By means of an “inductive methodology” we will seek to under-stand the Church less as a static, unchanging and perfect society and more as a collective, incarnate subject–moved and changed by the same forces that affect all of us as human persons. We will ad-dress the classical understanding of the marks of the church and offer a dynamic understanding of these phrases. We will conclude by addressing key issues that the church faces especially here in America from a moral and pastoral perspective.
• Please pray about and be a generous as possible to the 2018 Bishop’s Appeal.
• Sr. Kathleen Weigand of our sister parish Saint Vincent Mission, KY will be with us and speak to us on Pente-cost weekend, 19/20 May 2018.
• HOLY DAY: The Solemnity of the Ascension, the 40th Day of Easter is on Thursday, 10 May 2018. Masses will be at 12:10pm and 7:00pm.
• Th…Th…Th…That’s All Folks!!!

Come support our school during this fun filled afternoon.
With heartfelt gratitude the ladies of the St. Mary’s Rosary Society thank all who helped to make our bake sale, plus donations, raffles and cutlery sales a success. Mary South-ern who spearheaded the event worked tirelessly to organ-ize the preparation of pies. Thank you Mary for your pa-tience and positive enthusiasm.
Rosary meeting Our next Rosary Society meeting on May 1st at 6 PM, will begin with a pizza supper and conclude with praying the Rosary, May crowning and devotions to the Blessed Moth-er. To join us, call 226-1785. Use the Elm Street entrance to the Annex.
FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS - Read about the
greatest story in modern times – A leaflet is available on the entrance tables briefly summarizing the events that took place at Fatima, Portugal, when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in 1917. Our Lady requested this devotion and set forth its guidelines. By following those requests, you com-fort Mary’s grieving heart and show your affection and de-votion towards her. But, first, you need to know the story. Devotions are held in the chapel the 1st Saturday of every month at 9 a.m.
