CONCEPT 1 : PREJUDICE Definition : Prejudice is an unjustified or a negative learned attitude toward a
group of people.

Carol told Li Ying that the man is a gay, but actually Carol does not even know about the man and she just prejudice the man is a gay because of the wearing.

Definition : Self- handicapping is the actions or statements we make that allow us to avoid effort or responsibility for potential failures that could damage our self-esteem. We intentionally creating obstacles to our own success so that we
have an excuse if we fail.

Carol made up a statement that overweight people have to eat a lot because of their size, this allow her to avoid the responsibility for being fit and healthy.
CONCEPT 3 : FIRST IMPRESSION Definition : First impression is the initial impression we have of another person
when we meet them for the first time. It contains positive and negative impressions and a sense of physical and psychological features.

The first impression of Carol saw Li Ying’s friend, she think the man is a healthy person because the man is walking down from the gym’s stairs and wearing sport wear.
