SENSESClimate Change Scenario ServicesMapping the future www.senses-project.org

The new generation of climate change scenariosallow to investigate potential socio-economic futuresin the face of climate change.

The SENSES project develops tools andapproaches to make this wealth of informationaccessible to a broader public, i.e. decision makerswith larger decision horizon.

Users• climate policy makers • regional climate scenario users • businesses, particularly financial businesses

SENSES Climate Scenario ToolkitOnline platform providing information modules for alleviated access to complex climate change scenario content. State of the art visualization structured into three pillars:

LearnUnderstanding of key insights

ExploreAdvanced exploration of key parameters and variations

ShareEmpowerment of users as multipliers for climate knowledge

SENSES Portals

The SENSES portals are a user-group focussed sub-selection of learn, explore and sharecomponents in the SENSES toolkit. The focus of the SENSES portals will be on the policyand finance community.

The portals distinguish themselves to the toolkit by a stronger service aspect and sharpenedcontent to specific user group questions.

Topics

The Learn Pillarincludes learn modules that provide insights and context oncertain topics. thatteach basics, communicate contexts and show examples ofkey insights. This can include tutorial material (e.g. a primer onclimate change scenarios: https://climatescenarios.org/primer/)or information‐telling (possibly including infographics) of keyinsights from selected scenario sets.

The Explore Pillarcontains guided exploration modules (GEMs) allowing users togo through a preselected space of scenarios and variables todeepen her understanding and self‐generate additionalinsights. Ideally, GEMs relate to a learn module.

The Share Pillarcontains modules that help the user to share her insights withthird person (e.g. via slides, figures or movies) or componentsthat allow the user to export figures etc. from the learnmodules and potentially also from the guided explore modules.
