Subject-Based Banding (SBB)
SBB introduced in 2008 to ensure that student’s interests and strengths are taken into consideration when he/she progresses Allow students to take subjects at different levels
depending on their aptitudes and abilities in these subjects
help each pupil to proceed at a pace that child can manage
Introduced as a refinement to the streaming process SBB aims to help every student realise his potential
E.g.: Student is
• strong in English and Mother Tongue
• very weak in Mathematics and Science,
• May Choose :
• Standard English & Standard MT
• Foundation Math & Foundation Science
•Rationale
• Help focus and improve on the subjects
that are strong in while building up the
fundamentals in the weak subjects
