Football Fans...
Welcome to another exciting season of Yellowjacket football at Rochester Community and Technical College! On behalf of the football team, coaches, students, faculty, and staff, thank you for your support.
As RCTC’s newly appointed President, I am excited for what the year holds for our student athletes, both on and off the field. RCTC has a history of providing college experiences typically found at four-year universities and, thanks to the support of our local community, the Rochester Regional Stadium will be experiencing some growth and expansion itself in the coming months. This includes additional seating for up to 5,000 spectators, adding locker/changing rooms, expanding the press box and videotaping facilities, and much more.
In addition to the athletic facilities, students on our campus may also choose from a variety of other student life programs to make life-long connections with other students, develop leadership and life skills, and of course, be part of the most extensive varsity sports program of any public two-year college in the state. So while on campus, feel free to tour the entire campus, study in our library, view our artwork, or just walk the grounds. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find at RCTC. Again, thank you for your support, and GO YELLOWJACKETS!

Athletic Director—Jean Musgjerd graduated from Bemidji State University, earning both her BS degree in Physical Education (1985) and her MS degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Administration (1991), along with additional graduate work in health (2007). For the past twenty-four years Jean has been employed at Rochester Community and
Technical College serving as head volleyball coach from 1990-2007, head softball coach from 1994 – 2011, HPER Instructor from 1990 to the present, and athletic director from 2001 to the present. While at RCTC she led two volleyball teams to the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament and four softball teams to the NJCAA National Softball Tournament. Jean has earned several honors while coaching at RCTC: two-time NJCAA Region XIII Volleyball Coach of the Year, four-time NJCAA Region XIII Softball Coach of the Year, and 2006 NFCA Jr. College Division III Coach of the Year. She also had the honor of coaching 12 NJCAA All Americans and one NJCAA Academic All American.
Since 2004, Jean has served as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Region XIII Director and serves on many national/regional/state committees under this title. In 2007, she was named to the softball coaching staff of the NJCAA Elite Softball Team that competed in the World University Game in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2009, Jean received the NJCAA Loyalty Award for her work within the NJCAA at the national and regional levels. Most recently she has been named to the National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Executive Committee.
While her work keeps her plenty busy, she does find time for a few hobbies such as camping, backpacking, BWCA Trips, and fishing. Since 1997, she also has trained dogs to search for lost and missing people for the Southern MN Canine Search and Rescue Association. Currently Jean has two German Shepherds that are certified to do such work.
Head Football Coach—Bill Quistorff is going into his fifth season coaching at RCTC. He began his coaching career at RCTC in 2010 coaching the defensive line. He has also coached the linebackers and was the Defensive Coordinator for two years, leading the defense to the #1 defense in the MCAC. The team also ranked in the top ten NJCAA both years while Bill held that
position. Last season he took the reins as Interim Head Coach and finished with an overall record of 10-2, winning the MCAC championship over team rival Central Lakes Community College. He also led the team to the Graphic Edge Bowl vs. Iowa Central Community College with one of the most exciting bowl games in the NJCAA resulting in a tough overtime loss. Coach Quistorff was named 2013 Region 13 Coach of the Year. After last season, he had the “Interim” tag removed and is going into his second season at the helm of the RCTC Yellowjacket Football Program. Bill is originally from Osakis, MN, where he was a three-sport letter winner and helped lead his football team to the state tournament semi-finals two years in a row. He was an All-State running back as well as an All-State defensive back. He still holds school rushing records for yards in a season (1804) and carries in a season (273). Coach Bill Quistorff is a former Yellowjacket linebacker who was part of the state championship team and played in The Heart of Texas Bowl in 2003. Bill was All-Region HM and a team captain at
linebacker in 2006. In
2006, he graduated with an AA Degree from RCTC. He then went on to finish his college football career at Bemidji State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education in May 2010. Bill currently works in the Rochester School District. He continues to play football as a linebacker in the NEFL for the St Paul Pioneers and is a defensive league leader in tackles and first team all-star for three consecutive seasons.
“I am extremely excited to build off the foundation that was set by last year’s team. We ended the season with a great display of character, brotherhood, and heart at The Graphic Edge Bowl. Our goal for this year is to take our talents to the next level and compete with the best teams in the nation for an overall National Championship.” ~Coach Quistorff

This year, Jered will be focused on the ground attack as the Run-game Coordinator. “My hope and goal is to continue to build on
the dominance that is RCTC’s offensive tradition!” Coach Smiley graduated from Winona State University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Science in K-12 Physical. He played high school football in his

As Athletic Director at RCTC, I want to welcome you on behalf of the faculty, staff, and student-athletes at RCTC. We are proud of the rich traditions our student-athletes have built over the years both in the classroom and in competition. Our students-athletes are expected to live by the premise: “You are a student first and an athlete second.” With this in mind, RCTC celebrates with the MCAC All Academic Award Winners each year as well as the students earning Dean’s List recognition each semester.
Football has a long, outstanding tradition here at RCTC, winning in the MCAC State Title Game seventeen out of the last nineteen years, and we expect nothing but continued success in the 2014-2015 season. Coach Q and his coaching staff have begun their second full year working with our young men, and I am truly impressed with their commitment to them both in the classroom and on the field. We expect greater things to come from this program this year.
I would like to encourage you to join us for all of our athletic activities and continue supporting our student-athletes. The sports schedules and other information can be found on our website at rctcyellowjackets.com. Thank you for joining us today, and I hope to see you again at future athletic activities.

Along with coaching, Rob works in the Rochester School District and is finishing his degree in Special Education at Augsburg College.

RCTC is large enough to be able to provide countless opportunities for students to take their college experience beyond the traditional classroom. But RCTC is small enough for students to immediately engage and become actively involved. Performing arts, sports and fitness, student clubs and organizations provide RCTC students with more options than you would expect at a two-year college.
For the most up-to-date student clubs and organizations listing, visit us online at: www.rctc.edu/studentlife/clubs/

Affirmative Action: It is RCTC’s policy that no person shall be discriminated against in the terms and conditions of employment, personnel practices, and access to or participation in, programs, services, and activities with regard to race, sex, color, creed, religion, age, national origin, disability, marital status, status with regards to public assistance, sexual orientation, or membership or activity in a local commission as defined by law.
Title IX Statement: It is the policy of Rochester Community and Technical College not to discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national or ethnic origin, age, marital status, sex or handicap as required by Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as applied in admissions policies, educational programs, activities and employment practices. The designated Affirmative Action Officer is the Chief Human Resources Officer. The designated coordinator for compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is the Director of Disability Services. The Director of Disability Services is also the designated coordinator for compliance with Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972.
OCR Corrective Actions: Lack of English skills should not be a barrier to admission or participation. In order to eliminate barriers we take appropriate measures to assess each student’s ability to participate and benefit through placement testing and counseling. Based on the assessment and counseling, students are then provided with campus services or a referral to community services to be better prepared for successful participation.
