Evaluation - Question 1Digipak and Advert

In what ways does your media product use, develop or

challenge forms and conventions of real media

products?

Here is the front, middle and the back of our digipak for the music video we created for the song ‘Dull Boy’ by The Growlers.

THE FRONT In our digipak we used the colours purple as a feature in our digipak like it is in our music video. The colour purple was used in our music video as it suits our genre which is indie rock.We have used a symbolic image for our digipak which is also a feature in the music video for our song. At the end of the music video the boy shown in the digipak is shown touching the TV screen.

We used this album cover by M83 as inspiration for the front cover of our digipak. We used this as itis a indie band and the album suits the genre well. This album cover is also quite conceptual lookingand symbolic as it focusesmore on themes.

THE MIDDLE

This is the middle of the digipak, we have used this as it is liked with the locations in our music video. The colours are also linked to the music video as it fits the house colours of black with a contrast of purple, which is also symbolic to the narrative of the music video.

BACK

This is the back of our digipak, we used the conventions of ourmusic video. For examplewe kept with the same Colours of the front of The digipak with the blackand purple. We also used the same font for the track names as ‘THE GROWLERS’ on the front cover.

ADVERTThis is the advert for EP in which our song whichour music video is for ison. We have used theconventions of the indiegenre for our advert. For example we included a urban area for the image in our advert, this location is also a location shown in ourmusic video. We also used the same font for the band and EP name in the advert as the front coverfor the digipak.

ADVERT

We used this advert for Metallica for inspiration. We used the idea of placingthe band name at the top in its own font and the album name underneath. This is also similar to the digipak front cover as it uses the same colours and the same font.

We also used the idea of putting the ratings from magazines and newspapers in the centre of the advert for our advert as this allows there to be a background image to make the advert more appealing.
