The Medulla

• Location: Base of brain.• What it does: Controls automatic

body processes – Heartbeat, breathing, blood pressure,

etc.

The Cerebellum

• Location: Back of head

• What it does: Regulates how much a muscle moves and controls your balance.

The Cerebrum

• Location: Top part, largest• What it does:Two sides:

– Left controls logic, language– Right artist, feelings

What this shows…

• The brain is wired to recognize faces, so presented with this inverted portrait, it ignores the distortions. Only do you see the real image when you flip it over in front of you. WEIRD!

What the research says…

• On average, females “read” better than males. The female brain is wired for empathy and understanding.

• Does this mean males aren’t empathetic? No! There are always exceptions to any research findings.
