Course Overview

This course will provide you with valuable information and skills through classroom

instruction and hands on experience at a playground. Course material was developed based

on a recommended best practices from the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC)

Public Playground Safety Handbook and American Society of Testing and Materials’ (ASTM)

standards. Instructed by Certified Playground Safety Inspectors (CPSI), this course will

review injury statistics, playground equipment design, maintenance, surface materials,

inspection, supervision, and hazards.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this seminar, you will be able to:

■ Understand real and potential playground risks

■ Identify and evaluate Playground Safety hazards

■ Prioritize hazards based on severity, frequency, and likelihood of occurrences

■ Develop recommendations to upper management for playground modifications

Who Should Attend

This program is intended for all individuals with playground operation, maintenance, and safety responsibilities including public works personnel, school principals, risk managers, safety directors, facility managers, maintenance directors, custodians, etc.
