– In offices with single system, both client and server component as well as Communication module are installed in the same system

Installation process

Communication module installed in a client system and EMS client folder shared with appropriate access rights

Server component installed on the server; Speednet Server folder created is shared with suitable access permissions for all users in the domain

Client component initially installed in server and connected to server component; Database is created and application is configured; Later installed in all clients

Prerequisites

1. Windows client/server network comprising the followinga. Windows 2000/2003/2008 server with dot net framework

2.0 or later, on the serverb. Windows 2000 Professional/xp/vista/7 in clients with dot net

framework 2.0 or laterc. A domain binding the network to implement centralized

securityd. Internet connection in the communication cliente. A standard antivirus system to protect the communication

client (compulsory) and all other client systems(optional), with an active registration and auto-updation and on-access protection enabled

Pre-requisites (cont’d)

2. SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 standard edition installed on the server and mixed authentication enabled with a secure SA password

3. Latest service packs available - Service pack 4 for SQL 2000/ service pack 2 for SQL 2005 (minimum requirement)

4. Client edition of SQL Server in client systems with no management tools

5. A domain user account created for each user in the office

Installation steps – Communication component

Place the setup CD in the CD/DVD drive in the server or local system

Open the CD and run the communication setup

Follow the setup as in the screenshots shown in the next slide

On completion of installation share EMS client folder with appropriate permissions

• When you run the setup, this is the first dialog box that comes up

• Click the right arrow button to continue setup

• This is the next step

• Here you have the option to change the destination folder using Change Directory button; The default path is C:\EMSClient

• Follow the onscreen inst

• Setup will now show you the program group under which the application will be available for access

• Click Continue to proceed

• In this step you should select where the module is installed– In offices with Speednet,

select the default option SpeedNet

– In offices with Point of sale only (extension counters) having internet facility use Point of Sale option (to upload booked data)

• This completes the setup

Server component installation

Install the server component in the server in a drive

other than C drive (preferably)

Depending on the office status select the components

like BNPL, collection agent

Set up steps are as in the sequence in

next slide

On completion of installation, share

the server component

Server setup sequence – 1

• Access the Speednet server component in the setup CD and launch the setup

• As with the communication module, click the right arrow button in this initial window to continue setup

• In this dialog box, you are prompted to change the installation path with a default path shown

• Change the installation path to a drive other than C to ensure hassle free growth and security

• Click the setup icon to continue

• In this final step, choose whether your office is– Delivery office– Handles BNPL and

collection agent articles

• Install flush data, as per requirements

• Click OK to finish setup• Share the SpeednetServer

folder in the installation path

Client setup process

Install the client component now on the server and connect to the server component

• In this initial setup dialog box, click the setup icon to proceed with setup

• In this dialog box, the program group in which the application will be available gets displayed, click Continue to proceed

• The message box Path/file access error that appears is a non critical error; Click Retry and the next dialog box appears

• In this dialog box, you should browse and point to the Speednet Server

Configuration for SPC

• Run the speednet on completion of installation to complete the following tasks; The application will lead you through these tasks in sequence– Creating database– Customizing the application for SPC– Creating users– Connecting to Point of sale and communication

components– Creating other environments like connected offices,

despatch and receipt schedules and delivery• The sequence is shown in the next slide

Configuration step - 1

– In this dialog box, we create the supervisor

Configuration step - 2

• In this dialog box we localize the application to the office concerned

• The office can be either a SPCC or a linked office

• If you select linked office configuration, you should search for your office from the attached SPCC list

• Using this dialog box, you should connect the speednet to the Point of sale existing in the same network – to fetch booked article data

• Select whether POS is installed, if so how

• If POS is in the same network enter the name of the server

Configuration step - 4

• In this step, you should select the system and shared folder (EMS Client) where Communication module is installed

• Use the Browse button to search and point to the EMS Client in the network and proceed further

• In this step, if you click View offices you will get list of SPCCs, linked offices and RMS/TMOs

• You cannot add any new SPC or linked office

• You can however add any other office to which bags can be closed in your SPC is regularly closing such bags

• The User Management dialog box that appears is used to create operators in the system

• Click the User Management button to complete this task

Configuration step - 7

• In this dialog box, we define the set numbers if the office works on more than one shift

• If no shift system is in vogue, simply check off the check box and proceed next

• This dialog box is used to configure the designations

• Duties are assigned to designations

• Users are mapped to designations every day at the time of job allocation

• Click Designations button and create the number of required designations

• Here we configure the despatch schedules of the SPC

• Ascertain the carrier, set, days of despatch and destination from the office and create the schedules

• In this step, we configure the receipt schedules for the office

• Ascertain the existing receipt pattern and configure the schedule similarly as despatch schedule

• Here you need to furnish Delivery environment information

• Ascertain the existing environment from the SPC and enter these data

• You need to also enter the names of postmen and bulk addressees, if the delivery environment exists

• In this dialog box you get a list of offices for which aerial distance could not be auto-configured (includes local offices)

• You are given option to configure the above offices

• Calculate the distance for each office connecting them to SPC concerned and select appropriate distance slab

• For linked offices, initially select the distance as in the range of 1-200; Later, you can modify the local offices

• First create data of existing BNPL customers getting data from SPC

• Configure Miscellaneous charges – Discount, Service tax etc.,
