Missions Prayer Newsletter July 2018
Suresh Jonnalagadda – Indian Upstate Fellowship, Greenville, SC –
sureshjonna1957@gmail.com
Prayers:
We praise and thank the Lord for the baptism
and spiritual growth of Aseet Patel.
Praise and thank the Lord for enabling us to do
our Gospel outreach through Music of Nations.
Pray for the salvation of Allen, Manish Patel,
Reena Patel and Sandeep Reddy.
Pray for the healing of Rajesh, Vijaydurga and Dhanraj.
Ernesto Chaparro - Rocky Creek Hispanic Church, Greenville SC -
miel2007@hotmail.com
Prayers:
Pray for the Ecuador Mission team that leaves on July 5. The team will
celebrate the 25th anniversary of La Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida, which
Pastor Chaparro helped to start. We thank the RC Seniors and Bob
Augustine’s Gospel Group for the donations for the trip. We will be
taking 260 pairs of reading glasses
Praise God that Luciano, Sara and their kids Leyla and Edwin have
decided to become members of the Rocky Creek family.
Marcela’s brother Pablo is in the process of moving from NY. Pray God
will open doors for them.
Pray for Edgar Morales who is coming from Monterrey, Mexico to visit at
RC during the month of July.
Brenda Bagwell - Piedmont Women’s Center , Greenville SC -
brenda@piedmontwomenscenter.org
Prayers:
Pray for courage for women to call and
attend their appointments.
Pray for wisdom for volunteers, nurses,
and sonographers who counsel clients.
Pray for the Abortion Recovery Assistance
program.
Praise God for the new clinic construction
and the progress being made.
God Story:
During a recent visit, an abortion minded woman who knew the Lord but
had drifted from Him came in and spoke with a client advocate. We
praise God that during the conversation she rededicated her life to Christ!
That same day, she was able to have an ultrasound and saw her tiny 8-
week old baby wiggle in her womb. She declared that she never thought
she’d have joy in her heart that afternoon but now she did! We praise the
Lord for the work He does through the women who walk through our
doors and we pray that He continues to work in their hearts. We pray for
lives to be changed and the gospel to be proclaimed.
Holli Baker – RIT Campus Missionary, Rochester, NY –
holli@campustarget.org
Prayers:
Pray for Holli and Ryan as they seek to raise the support needed to go to
China as missionaries.
Jason Hodges – Encounter Church, Dedham, MA -
jasonevanhodges@gmail.com
Prayers:
Pray for our 112 discipleship class. We are discipling many new believers
and God is doing great things.
Pray for our summer as we build momentum from what God has been
doing. The program we hosted last month brought over 250 people, many
who are not connected to any church. Pray we would follow up well with
them.
Pray as we continue to develop new partners, both local and national.
Skeeter Powell – David’s Table, Greenville, SC - skeeter.powell@gmail.com
Prayers:
For our friends who go to Carolina Point to hear and respond to the
Gospel.
For the health of our leaders and their families who are experiencing all
sorts of illnesses and problems. Pray that we stay focused on serving God
and our friends instead of our problems.
In June we took a group of young adults who we are now praying will
come on board and help love on our friends with disabilities.
Important Dates:
July 22-28 – taking 23 kids with disabilities and leaders to Carolina Point
for camp where they will hear and see the Gospel.
Monday nights we meet at the home of a leader for Bible study in
Matthew
God Story:
At Capernaum Camp each camper receives
a “letter from God” and they are encouraged
to respond to God in writing. One young
lady from our group, named Heaven
(Heaven Lee Angel Dorsey) shared her
letter to God in a service “Dear God, Thank
you for letting me come and experience You
at Carolina Point this week. It was
awesome. I love You and thank You for
letting me learn more about You. And I
thank You for letting people be in my life or
I wouldn’t be where I am today. Love,
Heaven.”
Sherwood Brazil Trip Highlights, June 12 – 22
David Sherwood’s dad was a missionary pastor in Mato Grosso do Sul
and one of the churches that he started years ago, sponsored the
construction on the chapel in Rio Verde that this team worked on. This
made the trip even more special for David. The first night the team was
in Rio Verde, a 93-year-old woman whom David’s dad had baptized
was brought to meet the team coming from Rocky Creek.
The team, along with 10 Brazilian friends were able to complete the
church construction in a record 4 days. They conducted a VBS for the
children in the neighborhood,
hosted a lady’s tea for 54 ladies
(Eyvonne had exactly 54 bags for
the lady’s tea so God was gracious
to send that exact number). Before
the team left they were able to have
a commissioning service in the
new chapel, complete with new
chairs the team was able to
purchase for them.

Cassie Erickson – Serving in Africa – Cassandra.erickson12@gmail.com
Prayers:
We have a short term team here, please pray for the local pastors to be
encouraging and teaching; for the pastors from Nigeria who are coming to
catch the vision for reaching the Hausa people; also for the American who
are coming to see how the Father is working and be willing to join in.
Pray for the people around us, it is a hungry season because a lot of
people have run out of food and money and are now waiting on their
crops to mature. Many of the people spent a lot of their money on
Ramadan to buy nice clothes and now have nothing left to purchase food.
Pray for our team as we are thinking of the future and trying to see what
the Father is leading us to do, individually and as a group.
Important Dates:
July 4-13 Short term team
June 27-July 4 Travel into the Capital for visa paper work
God Story:
Like I said above, the people are waiting on their crops and hoping to
make it through the hungry season until the crops are ready to harvest. A
few weeks ago they said “if it doesn’t rain soon we will lose the crops”,
and the Father was kind to them to send some rain. Last year they did not
have a good rainy season and therefore they didn’t have a good harvest. I
am amazed every time I see their
fields, because the ground is just
like beach sand. Have you ever
thought about making a farm on
the beach? No! Nothing would
grow because it is not good soil.
That is how it is every time I see
something growing here, I praise
God because I know it is not the
people growing the crops, but
the Lord. Plants should not be
growing here!

Berkeley Bagwell Gomez – Campus Outreach, San Diego –
bgomez@cosandiego.org
Prayers:
Pray for the 3 new believers on the Leadership Project that they would
press into Jesus and community to grow in their faith.
Pray for humility among the student leaders and for peace and conflict
resolution to happen among them.
Pray that Carlos and I will prioritize time together in July as I step back
from Leadership Project. Pray we invest in our relationship with each
other and with God.
Important Dates:
June 28-July 25: Leadership Project is completely run by student leaders,
so they will have to step up as leaders.
God Story:
47 students are involved in Leadership Project, growing in their faith,
learning to study the Word, and practicing to share their faith. One week I
went with a student named Heidi. After we shared the Gospel with a girl
from China who had never met a Christian before, Heidi was blown away.
She couldn’t believe there were students studying in the US who had
never met a Christian or heard the Gospel. Praise Jesus that He is opening
students’ eyes to the need for the Gospel in our country and around the
world. Every student in L.P. has grown, but Spencer, Maggie, and Zach
have surrendered their lives to Christ for the first time this past week.
Pray for them to grow and be faithful.
Lierte Soares Junior - New England Triad - liertejunior@bol.com.br
God Story:
Three years ago we have 8 students in VBS,
this year we have 113. Praise God for the
mission teams that come to Framingham,
MA to help us reach our community through
VBS programs. This year we have 3
different teams coming, including the
students from Rocky Creek.

Rebecca C. – Teacher at International School in Central Asia -

Prayers:
I will be in a month long intensive languet course in July. Pray my
language would grow and that I would be able to share with my
classmates.
Last month a local girl moved in as a roommate. She was my language
helper 2 years ago. Pray that we would get to know each other well and
transition into great roommates.
Praise God the bid for the land for the new school is final and plans for
the new school can begin.
God Story:
These are my beloved seniors on their graduation day. I have known
many of these since they were
6th graders and as proud as I
am of them, it is definitely
bittersweet seeing them all
leave. They’ll be missed for
sure! Pray for their transition
as many have already begun to
move to various countries all
around the world. Pray they
will find good community and
local fellowships to help them
grow in their relationship with
the Father.
Matt Johns – ReChrist Ministries, Norcross, GA – mjohns@re-christ.org
Prayers:
Pray for our move to Arizona, Matt and Noah will drive across country,
while Ashley and Eden will fly.
God is aligning so much ministry in AZ. Pray for our wisdom to follow
God in what He desires for our calling.
Pray for our family as we get established in AZ and as we begin our new
season of ministry.
Important Dates:
July 16 – Noah starts school in new community
July 8 – Outdoor baptism at local apartments in AZ
God Story:
While closing on our home in AZ, I went to a car dealership about buying a
used truck. The sales guy said “hello sir, do you know where you are going?”
I replied “Heaven, how about you?” Then I went right into sharing the
Gospel. This young man had an estranged relationship with his dad and grew
up in the Mormon faith. We talked for a little bit and I was able to water the
seed that God loved him and wanted a relationship with him. This was just
one of many opportunities to share Jesus this month.
Chuck Mayo – Heritage Baptist Church, Greenville, SC -
chuckmayo@icloud.com
Prayers:
Pray for Chuck and Heritage Baptist and their NGU
Interns, Brittany Gibson, Samuel Heard, and James
Gilbert.
