How will I be assessed?

• You will sit two exams and complete some coursework:

• Unit 01: Television and Promoting Media (35% of GCSE).EXAM

• Unit 02: Music and News (35% of GCSE)EXAM• They will also have one non-examined

assessment (NEA) - Coursework unit (30% of GCSE)

Unit 01: Television and Promoting Media -EXAM

• Unit 01: Television and Promoting Media looks at, for television, both contemporary and historic television CRIME DRAMA, currently this is Cuffs (2015) and The Avengers (1965).

• For Promoting Media students will explore media products from the same global conglomerate producer illustrating the media forms of film, advertising and marketing, and video games; currently this is The Lego Movie (2014).

Unit 02: Music and News – EXAM • Unit 02: Music and News looks at, for music, radio,

magazines and music video; currently this includes: Mojo magazine, Radio 1 Live Lounge and a range of

different music videos.

• For News, students will explore online, social and participatory media and engage with newspapers, both contemporary and historic.

Creating Media COURSEWORK worth 30% -Develop practical skills by creating your own independent media production.

You could choose from many options!

• Creative task: pitch new TV series for specific audiences for specific channels.

• Creative task: pitch a new blockbuster film in an existing franchise and a British film for an older audience.

• Creative task: pitch new radio programmes for specific audiences on Radios 4 and 1.

• Creative task: outline a double page spread for a specified magazine in terms of images to be used, headline and the first paragraph of the article.

• Creative task: outline a website to promote a new TV series and write a headline and opening paragraph for a news website. Add key terms to

• Creative task: pitch a new video game to meet a PEGI rating aimed at a specific audience

• Creative task: pitch music videos for named artists in a specific musical genre aimed at specific audiences.
