History• Malaysia tourism centre is housed in a building

which has the distinction of being an important historical and architectural landmark in Kuala Lumpur

• The main building of this complex was erected in 1935 to serve the resident of a wealthy miner and planter named Eu Tong Seng

• In keeping with the dictates of the time, it architecture was typically colonial in style

• In 1941, it housed the war office of British Army but this was short live

History• When the Japanese invaded Malaya during the

Second World War, it became the headquarters of the Japanese Imperial Army until the end of the war in 1945

• In 1956, the new government of the then federation of Malaya took ownership of the building

• A conference hall was added and named Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman, in honor of Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the country’s first Prime Minister

History• Since then, the Dewan has been the scene of

numerous historical events such as the sitting of the Malayan Parliament in 1959 and also the installation ceremonies of the first, third, fourth and fifth kings of the country

History• In 1988, the then Ministry of Culture, Arts and

tourism refurbished the main building, added two wings to the existing building and renamed it the Malaysia Tourist Information Complex (MATIC)

• Opened to public since mid August 1989, MATIC is a one stop visitor centre offering a wide range of facilities and services to assist tourist in planning a memorable holiday in Malaysia

History• It also enables them to view and experience the

essence of Malaysia within the complex itself through the various shows and demonstrations of various aspect of its culture

• On the 16th of February 2001, the complex changed its name to Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC) or also known as Pusat Pelancongan Malaysia

Traxx FM studio (tourism Radio)This radio station is to promote tourism activities in

the country, and can be heard at 90.3 FM and 100.1 FM

FoyerIt is open space made especially for exhibition

purposes The space is available for rental and the rate

depends on the size of the area required

Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium HallThis hall can be used to stage arts and cultural

performances and very well-equipped with facilities for conferences, seminars, briefings and others

With its capacity of 400 people, the hall is available for rental at RM400 per hour

It has all the basic facilities such as air conditioning, AV and lighting equipment as well as VIP room

Mini Auditorium HallStaging arts and cultural performances are suitable

such as dance, theatre and music performances It is opened for public bookings at RM250 per hour

and can accommodate 140 people per performance It is also equipped with basic facilities such as air-

conditioning, AV and lighting equipments

Open Stage or AmphitheatreCultural rehearsals and performances take place at

this stage It is also opened for public bookings at the rate of

RM150 per hour This stage is equipped with basic facilities and has

an audience capacity of 300-400 people

Cultural ShowBe mesmerized by the diversity of the Malaysian

culture through the cultural shows and traditional dance performances held every 4 days in a week in the mini auditorium hall

This hall can accommodate 140 people and the entrance fee is only RM5.00 for adults and free for children below 12 years of age

Saloma Theatre Restaurant• Saloma theatre restaurant invites you to A Malaysian

Showcase • Good food, good service and good entertainment • It strategically located in the Golden Triangle, within

the shopping, entertainment and business hub • The restaurant opens daily from 11 am to 12
