• We begin our kindergarten day at 8:45 with Circle Time.

• We talk about the day’s activities, the calendar, and the weather, and recite The Pledge of Allegiance.

• We also include a special activity such as a book, a game, or a Mystery Reader.

• All three components are offered on a daily basis during our 45 minute literacy period

• Each component is tailored to meet individual needs

• Children are encouraged to write using phonetic sounds. Spacing, punctuation, etc. are modeled and reinforced as the year progresses.

• Students learn to spell common sight words

• We use the Phonovisual Program, an organized method of teaching phonics

• Children master beginning sounds and ending sounds

• They then add vowels and can now spell and sound out many, many words

• Develops concepts through “hands on” experiences

• Includes worksheets and problem solving activities

• Covers numeration, geometry, measurement, money, fractions, spatial relationships, graphing, patterns, data analysis, addition, and subtraction

• We consistently collect over 100 sets of warm pajamas for the nonprofit Pajama Program that distributes pajamas to children in shelters, group homes, foster care, and orphanages.

• We offer a second outreach opportunity in the spring, which is tailored to a specific interest of the class.
