On October 1, 2010, ICADV Released Its

Domestic Violence Homicide Report: June 2009 – May 2010

ICADV examined the circumstances surrounding 76 domestic violence homicides in a recent, one year period and shows that when domestic violence homicide occurs, it is men who kill their partners and former partners, as well as their children.

THE STORY BEGINS

Police did not arrest even if assaults were serious.

No Order of Protection was available for Police to enforce.

The murderer’s sister & family (4).

Dead wife’s brother & his family (5).

One (1) wife murdered.

1978

The dead wife’s two (2) parents.

One (1) 11-year-old son witnessed

murderof mother.

Students at son’s school (50).

Neighbors at four different residences

Church friends (30).

Other community members (5).

Friends (5).

Police/Fire/Health Professionals (30)

This woman’s death effected 163 people throughout

the community.

Murdered victim’s lost income for her family was $900,000.

In MAY 2002, the same man killed his 14

year old daughter in her maternal grandparent’s home, and then set it on

fire.

This same man killed his second wife’s sister (4).

Second wife’s parents and family (12).
