A MESSAGE FROM THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

A MESSAGE FROM THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: The ICADV Membership Committee would like to thank you for taking on this new leadership role. In addition to leading your program empowering women, helping them find their voice and providing support will be your main priorities. You will also be learning about the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence or ICADV. ICADV is a valuable resource. Whether you have questions about Standard Operation Procedures, funding resources, or a high profile court case, the ICADV staff and follow member agencies are available for guidance and consultation. With both state and national presence, ICADV offers a vast system of networking and resources that are invaluable to local providers.

We hope you utilize your ICADV membership to help you through your period of transition from new Director to experienced advocate for battered women, their children and men who are battered.

The purpose of this training is to orient you to your new role on the ICADV Board of Directors. In addition to this introductory module, there are eight other modules. Organizational documents and history will provide an overview of corporation documents such as the bylaws, fiscal policies, strategic plan and other items with which you should be familiar as a new ICADV Board member. The Committees module provides a more in depth instruction about how you should go about participating in an ICADV Committee. Process for renewing membership provides an overview of various membership forms necessary for annual renewal. One of the most important roles that ICADV plays is the policy and legislative advocacy. The Advocating for Change module provides an overview of what role you play in that advocacy effort. Stakeholders and acronyms provides an overview of common domestic violence funding sources and allies with whom we routinely work. This module will help orient you to the alphabet soup of the domestic violence work in Illinois. The module on branding will provide an overview of the ICADV brand manual and how you play a role in consistent implementation of the ICADV brand statewide. Statewide coverage and cultural consciousness module provides on overview of how to identify resources of service all victims. Your relationship as a subcontractor module will help give you a better understanding of your role as a funded organization and is specifically intended for those member agencies that also receive ICADV funding. Even if your agency is not currently funded by ICADV, it still may be helpful for you to review the module as it may help prepare you should new funding opportunities arise in the future. 9/19/2012New Director PresentationFall 20123Questions?
