EVALUATION QUESTION 1-GENRE CONVENTIONS

MY FINAL DIGIPACK

Inside cover of the Digi-Pack.

Back Cover Front Cover

FRONT COVER IMAGERY

• Slowly becoming more conventional now for artists not to feature themselves on the front cover!

• Instead, we wanted to create an image that is going to capture the interest of the target audience.

• The colour’s and combination of the scrabble pieces, portray all things retro about this album for example the vinyl on the record player symbolizes a stylish view an re-emergence of vinyl.

• I also feel this remains to set a classic theme for viewers as some album covers can begin to look dated.

• Being an indie-tronica band this is possibly a less conventional choice but suggests there is much more to the album beyond imagination.

PARENTAL ADVISORY

It is compulsory to include a parental advisorylogo if the lyrics are challenging or include explicit language.

We both felt clearly that our band’s songs pushed the boundaries on lyrics and would therefore need to include a parental advisory logo.

EXAMPLES (below) all feature the parental advisory logo in the bottom right hand corner.

Back Cover

Track listing- is the basic necessity of an album cover to present clearly the tracks and songs details that consumers can check before they buy the product

Bonus Tracks- can be conventional especially on a major album

Barcode- For shops to distribute and sell the product

Logos, record label

Small print- is a legal requirement on any album cover

New convention-QR code- with many people having access to smartphones they can scan this code for further insight into the band

BACK COVER

Featuring an artistic element is conventional because there still needs to remain an attraction when viewing around the album cover.

CREDITS- we have chosen to use credits on the back cover as my partner pointed out that a lot bands used this convention.

The Keyboard, also links with the promotional video as well as adding to visual element

INSIDE COVER

• It is Conventional to feature the Bandsomewhere on the Digi-pack.

• Influences in using the band members and performance-Pink Floyd, Blur and ACDC

• Very Conventionalto have the same font on the Digi-pack

4 larger panels featuring individual band members-influence taken from ‘Best of Blur’Album Cover

INSIDE COVER IDEA

• Influenced by the Rolling Stones cover that features the band almost like a film reel, this what determined the use of using band stills in our inside cover AND to depict each member in performance!

FINALLY…

Environmentally friendly!!

Our Digi-pack features a slide in area for the cd to go, with the material used to make the album being CARDBOARD and NOT plastic.

CARDBOARD- is a sustainable material which can be reused and recycled. It is very important in the eyes of some consumers that the product they are buying is not damaging the environment, following a new trend in the 21st century of recyclable products.
