Introduction About the U.S. Missions Website Platform TheprimarypurposeoftheU.S.MissionsWebsitePlatform(MWP)istoprovidecontentmanagement,webhosting,search,andwebreportingtoolsforU.S.Missionsworldwide.ThisprojectisthevehiclebywhichIIP’scoremissionisdelivered:“Togettherightinformation,totherightpeople,attherighttime.”TheOfficeofDigitalprovidesthedeliveryplatformandinfrastructurethatfacilitatesthedevelopment,maintenance,andhostingofacentralizedmultilingualcontentmanagementsystemtostreamlinethecreationanddeliveryofhighqualityinformationforbothprintandwebcontentforEmbassyandIIPinternationalaudiences.About WordPress WordPressisafreeandopensourcebloggingtoolandaContentManagementSystem(CMS)basedonPHPHypertextPreprocessor(PHP)andMySQL.WordPress:

Ø Usesatemplatesystemconsistingofthemesthatallowsuserstochangethelook,feel,andfunctionalityoftheirwebsitewithoutalteringthesite’sinformationcontentorstructure.TherearethousandsofWordPressthemesavailable,viaopensourceorcommercialdevelopers.Usersmayalsocreateanddeveloptheirowncustomthemes,iftheyhavetheexpertisetodoso.

Information Architecture Overview TheMissionWebsitePlatforminformationarchitectureconsistsofseven(7)sections,whichrepresentthetopicsthatareofprimaryinteresttositevisitors.Thesesectionsarebrokendownintosubcategories,whichcanbetterassistvisitorsinfindingspecificinformation.

Thesevensectionsareorganizedtoincludeinformationthatisspecifictovisas,U.S.citizenservices,thebilateralrelationshipbetweentheUnitedStatesandthehostcountry,business,education&culture,thephysicallocationofthemission(s),andnews&events.

Whendevelopingtheinformationarchitectureand,insomecases,thecontentofthesesections,IIPworkedverycloselywithConsularAffairs(CA),Education&Culture(ECA),andtheEconomicBureau.

Inadditiontoconsistentinformationarchitecture,thereareseveralsidebaritemsthroughoutthesitethatarerequired.Thesearelistedwiththeirrespectivesections.
