The next big killer application for the Internet is going to be education. Education over the Internet is going to be so big it is going to make email usage look like a rounding error.

- John Chambers President and CEO of Cisco Systems

“I take online classes because they are a convenient way for me to go to school and also raise a child. I started taking online classes last semester and enjoyed them so this semester all of my classes will be online. I love being able to stay in the comfort of my own home and go to class. It also allows me to get an education and still have plenty of time for my daughter.”

--Dawn Drake

“As a working, single mother...online classes allow me to manage my work, school, and life schedule and do assignments in a flexible time frame. Also, it helps me save money from driving to school every day in addition to driving to work and picking up and dropping off my daughter at school.”

-- Student J. M.

“I take online classes because it fits into my hectic schedule. I work 40 hrs a week and take 13 units at CSUN. There was no room for me to fit in a face to face class so I am taking this class online.”

– Student K. Silvestre

“I take classes online for convenience. I work full-time and at the end of the day I'm too tired to go to a conventional class. Also, after not being in school for 15 years, it was intimidating for me to go back to school and the online class was an easy choice to ease myself into learning again by doing it on my own time... even if that time is midnight.”

“The discussions had great subject matter and I really enjoyed reading the responses of the other classmates. In an online class, one tends to actually read and "listen" to what the other people are saying, not ignoring or missing what another classmate is saying if they happen to miss a class or have to leave early or if there is too much talking going on by the disrespectful students in the class. I learned an enormous amount by reading the other student's responses.”
