Project Brief

• Government of India has launched “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan” . Implementation is commenced in the year 2004 for the benefits of students taking primary education.

• Mid day Meal is one of the important aspect of the “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan”

• Food for Mid Day Meal scheme was mostly cooked outside the school premises due to which quality assurance was consistent issue.

• To overcome with this Government of India has decided to provide Kitchen sheds to all eligible primary schools.

• Central Govt. has approved for 38048 kitchen sheds at

RS.60,000/- per number

• Government of Maharashtra has received Rs.

228,28,80,000/- funds for construction of Kitchen Sheds

in the year 2008-2009 Under Mid Day Meal Scheme.

• Government of Maharashtra decided to construct Pre-

fabricated Moduker Kitchen Sheds of 120 sqft area to

eligible primary schools.

• The Government of Maharashtra has entrusted work of

providing Kitchen Sheds all over Maharashtra State to

Directorate of Primary Education (DPEMS).

• The work is being implemented through Project

Management Consultant.

Salient Features of Project • Size of Kitchen shed 3.30 mtr. X 3.30 mtr.

• Plinth Construction in BB / CC Block / UCR Masonry.

• Pedestal blocks in M20 grade concrete for foundation of

post.

• Posts & roof trusses fabricated from rolled steel section.

• Flooring with M15 Plain Cement Concrete.

• 35 mm thick Sandwich panel - walls with aluminum sheet

on either side & insulated with Poly Eurethene Foam.

• Profiled color coated Roof sheets.

• MS Door frame and Sandwich PUF panel door shutter.

• Provision of Ventilation from all four sides.

• Provision of One light point & one plug point.

• The actual construction of a pre-fabricated kitchen shed

on site requires maximum 5 days for complete the

kitchen shed.

• As time require for a kitchen shed is less comparing to

time required for regular RCC or any conventional

method, and costing is less as compared to any other

structure.

• This modular pre-fabricated kitchen shed having wall

panels & door shutter is fire proof material & remaining is

of structural members.

• The kitchen shed structure having durability of 25 years

& is a decent structure.

Methodology for work execution

• Actual survey carrying out by PMC for availability of

sufficient space & finalizing of location.

• The copies of survey done by PMC are handing over to

Contractor for execution.

• Contractor start the work with lay out as per location

finalizing in survey.

• The work is completed by contractor under supervision of

PMC.

• Final inspection is done by PMC & inspection report is

prepared.

• Finally completed kitchen shed is handed over to concern

Head Master along with copy of inspection report.
