What is CCLRC?

• Research Council providing large scale facilities for academic community

• ILLs are free and unlimited • 2000 - 3000 ILLS per year• BLDSC main source for ILLs• ILL module since 1997

How CCLRC got involved

• Discussions at EUUG about ILL module (1997)

• ILL meeting Feb 1998• Letter to Sirsi re improvements • Showed an interest in how the

module would evolve!

Why CCLRC got involved

• Opportunity to influence development

• Different scale to Universities• Different way of working (special

library)

Our Beta testing plan

• Why Beta test?• Systems tests• Roll-out to staff• Reporting problems to Sirsi

Results so far

• Systems testing nearly complete• ILL staff to check through autumn• Generated ILLs successfully

Beta test conclusions

• Developing software takes a long time

• Beta testing is tedious but worthwhile

ILL workflows conclusions

• Good points– Creation/sending process– “Add address”

• Bad points– System set-up
