Do you know how many different industries had to come together to make home automation a reality? Automation has a come a long way, and to create an infographic on all the technological contributions would take pages upon pages. Here's a brief overview of some of them.

The mouse is invented.

X10 develops light switches, thermostat controllers and other computer controlled technologies

MS-DOS is created by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, the basis of Windows.

Apple introduces the Macintosh Personal Computer, later named the Mac OS.

Home automation technology spreads to garage doors, security systems, entertainment infrared control, fibre optics, environmental control and more.X10 develops the first

wireless security system.

21-year-old Philo Taylor Farnsworth invents the first television.

The first wireless television remote is invented.

The Uniscope 300 is one of the first computer monitor displays.

The code for the World Wide Web is completed.

J.C.R Licklider envisions the internet in writing, called the “Galactic Network”.

ARPAnet, the first network, is created by DARPA and Unix is created.

ARPAnet goes live between Harvard, MIT and BBN.

The first email is sent.
