Background

The World Food Programme is the world´s largest

humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide,

delivering food assistance in emergencies and

working with communities to improve nutrition and

build resilience. Each year, WFP assists some 80

million people in around 75 countries.

WFP´s greatest strength in the pursuit of this

mission are the dedicated women and men

working around the world who provide access to

nutritious food and promote lasting solutions to

end hunger. Voluntary Assistants are a vital and

valued component of the WFP community. They

are guided solely by the motivation to devote their

knowledge and abilities, without regard to financial

benefit, to the global fight against hunger.
