CENTRAL PROGRAM The Central Program is our largest and most flexible program, with over 100 students each week. It offers a wide variety of classes for most early instruments, voice, and historical dance. Play in a consort, sing music by a favorite composer, read from early notation, dance a minuet, or begin a new instrument. Questions? Call us at (781)488-3337. Join us for pre-concert madrigals in the courtyard and post-concert receptions.Tuesday, July 10 14th-Century Avant-Garde Les Delices in collaboration with Blue Heron. The 14th century’s unparalleled freedom of thought inspired composers to fearlessly explore rhyth-mic complexity and flirt with the limits of what is possible in performance. Music by Machaut, Senleches, and others explore the relationships between mathematics, science, symbol, and sound. Friday, July 13 at 8:00 p.m. Opera Project: Jean-Baptiste Lully’s Cadmus et Hermione (1673) With this piece Lully and Phillippe Quinault invented a new type of entertainment called the tragedie lyrique. The delightful plot involves high-born lovers, mythical beasts, gods and goddesses, and comic servants. Fully staged, with student singers, dancers, and orchestra. Virtuosic Baroque solos, gorgeous Renaissance consorts of viols, recorders, and loud instruments, Medieval polyphony.Monday, July 16 Final Favorites The Flanders Recorder Quartet performs a program of favorite pieces. Don’t miss this chance to hear them in their last season together! Works by Costanzo Festa, Robert Parsons, Matthew Locke, and J.S. Bach. After the concert they will be awarded the American Recorder Society’s Distinguished Achievement Award. Thursday, July 19 The Wanderer Renowned Medieval specialist Benjamin Bagby performs a riv-eting solo program of works about travel and adventure: an English voyage to the hereafter from Beowulf, Anglo-Saxon elegies from the 10th century, and colorful stories from the life of Oswald von Wolkenstein.Friday, July 20 The Hapsburg Choirbook Belgian sackbut player and conductor Wim Becu leads this large-scale project of works by Franco-Flemish composers Philippe de Monte and Lambert de Sayve who worked for the Hapsburgs in Vienna and Graz. Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut, has dramatic views of Long Island Sound and a 750-acre arboretum. The College has comfortable dorms, a beautiful concert hall, air-conditioned classrooms, and easy parking. The student center has a college store, snack bar, and post office. Beaches, nature preserves, Mystic Seaport, coffeehouses, and bookstores are a short drive away. See www.conncoll.edu.

TRAVEL Connecticut College is 60 miles from Providence, RI, off of I-95 in southeastern Connecticut. Amtrak trains and Greyhound Bus go to downtown New London, just 2 miles from campus. Newark Airport and Boston’s Logan Airport have good connections to Amtrak. The closest airport is Providence, RI (PVD). Van service to the college will leave PVD at 2:00 pm both Sundays and return at 8:00 am the following Sundays; inquire.

TUITION Attend full time both weeks and save $100! Central Program: $600 per week Dance Program: $575 per week Half-day tuition: $390 per week Special Auditioned Program Tuition: $650 per week

SCHOLARSHIPS AND WORK-STUDY Some AEM scholarships are available; see website. Scholarships are also offered by Country Dance and Song Society, Early Music America, American Recorder Society, Historical Keyboard Society of North America, and Viola da Gamba Society.

REGISTRATION FEE $30 Waived before March 31 with deposit or full tuition. Waived before May 1 with full tuition. Registration fee of $30 is required to submit audition materials for Special Programs and is non-refundable.

CANCELLATION POLICY Tuition is fully refundable before June 15, all but $100 before July 1 (July 7 for second week). No refunds on tuition after July 1 (July 7 for second week). Housing is fully refundable.

ROOM AND BOARD Single or double in the air-conditioned dorms is $395 per person per week, with linens. Single or double in the non a/c dorms is $195 per person per week, no linens. Single or double in the non a/c dorms is $230 with linens. All rooms have shared baths. A meal card for the week is $175. Individual meal prices are $5.50 breakfast, $8.50 lunch, and $13.50 dinner. If you will arrive early, stay late, or have a guest, please reserve additional nights on our website.
