The ACAA Your hosts for this Open Studios Tour, the Amador County Artists Association (ACAA ), is anactive membership group for artists and would-be artists. The mission is to promote and encourage theproduction, cultivation and appreciation of art. Monthly meetings usually feature a demonstration by a

professional artist and other sharing of various art techniques.

Next year’s Artists Open Studios Tour/ FINE ART and MORE RAFFLE: Sept 17/18, 2016. This annual event supports artistswho want to show/sell their work in a more personal setting, and is also our annual fundraiser to support programs to encourageartists to make art. These include a High School Student Art Show, High School Art School Scholarships, Amador County Fairactivities and student ribbons, and teaching demos from professionals. Last year we donated over $4000 to these projects, andin 2016, through the sale of raffle tickets, we hope to donate even more.

The ACAA also sponsors Art in Public Places, an opportunity for local business to hang original art on their walls and to supportthe mission to promote awareness of original art. The locations become known for original art and ACAA members get regularexposure to build their reputation and occasionally make sales. The exhibits rotate every 2 months. Current locations includeRosebud’s Café (downtown Jackson) and at Castle Oaks Golf Club in Ione. Art is also shown at the Superior Court of CA, Countyof Amador, American River Bank, Amador Senior Center, Sierra Eye Care, Amador Residential Care and Jackson Paint Spot.

Managing the Amador County Fair Fine Arts and Photography Departments is another ACAA project. Several ACAA membersrun the department, and ACAA volunteers do much of the work. A highlight is the open judging of fine art and photography, andthe judge’s comments support the technical growth of the artists. Thanks to the establishment of standards and personal attention, these departments have earned a reputation for one of the best art shows around.

For more information about these and other benefits of the ACAA, please check out our website at www.amadorcountyartists.org,and “like” us on FB at Amador County Artists Association.

The Amador Arts Council promotes a number of regular arts activities, including Amador Art Trek andWineFest. Amador Art Trek is a free, self-guided tour of galleries and businesses that feature art andcan be enjoyed any time. Art Trek First Saturday is a free monthly showcasing of featured artists at thegalleries, and includes receptions and gatherings of artists. WineFest 2015, coming up on Nov 14, is

the major fundraiser for the programs supported by the Arts Council. A silent auction, full of local art offerings and other goodies,is a primary activity, along with a stroll through downtown Sutter Creek to sample wines from local wineries at 25+ Sutter Creekbusiness locations.
